Kohls Countdown To Kickoff

Green Bay vs. Minnesota - Postgame Quotes - Green Bay

Regular Season - Packers Win 38-32

HEAD COACH MIKE HOLMGREN:
(on Brett Favre's condition) "He's okay. He'll be sore tomorrow, but overall I thought he had a real good game."

(on the play of Ross Verba) "I really can't tell you at this point. But Ross played and I'm sure he's very happy. John could have played, but he wasn't 100 percent."

(on the play of LeRoy Butler) "He had two interceptions, and he was hurt last week and in some pain. But that's what you need from your best players. I think as a team you can really build on a performance like that. The younger players see that and then they know what it takes."

(on whether Bill Schroeder's fumble would affect his return duties) "He's not returning kickoffs as of right now."

QUARTERBACK BRETT FAVRE:
(on whether he audibled on the TD pass to Terry Mickens) "I was an audible machine today. We practice that play maybe once a week, but Terry did a great job catching the ball. We were designed to run a quarterback draw."

(on the team's depth) "We don't have much depth right now. It's not like college where you have a hundred players. We have 53 and it's difficult to replace players. But we're doing a great job of stepping up when we have to."

(on breaking Bart Starr's team record for TD passes in just six seasons) "We throw the ball a lot more, so I don't want to take anything away from Bart."

(on the Vikings' pass rush) "They rush the passer as well as anyone. They play hard and I respect that."

(on the play of Ross Verba) "I got hit today, but I don't know how much of that was his fault. It's hard. How'd you like to come in and block John Randle and those guys? We had to settle Ross down a bit. He was like a kid in a candy store in the huddle, growling and spitting. He kind of brought a different personality to our line."

STRONG SAFETY LEROY BUTLER:
(on chasing down Robert Smith) "You can't give up on certain plays. You have to keep fighting, and that's what I was telling my guys on that last series. We have to develop a killer instinct."

(on allowing Minnesota back in the game) "When you're up 31-7, it's hard to keep your focus. But we're learning every week and we'll learn how to put people away."

(on whether this was one of his best individual performances) "I think so. I dealt with a lot of pain today, but I think it was important for me to be out there for my teammates. If I'm near 100 percent, I need to be out there. I think it's important for the team to see me out there."

WIDE RECEIVER ANTONIO FREEMAN:
(on the play of Brett Favre) "He had a great performance. He did a good job of looking off the free safety and the cornerbacks. When Brett gets going, our offense gets going."

(on whether the offense felt invincible) "I think invincible is quite a big word. I think we were confident, but we really didn't play well in the second half. Our defense was able to bail us out."

(on why the offense put so many points on the board this week) "We weren't settling for field goals; we were taking gashes at the end zone. We were spreading the ball around and keeping the defenders on their toes."

FREE SAFETY EUGENE ROBINSON:
(on the final defensive series) "We were not going to play our prevent defense. We played our regular defense, and we had to because we were behind the eight ball. They get seven points, they win the game."
