Green Bay vs. Detroit - Postgame Quotes - Detroit
Regular Season - Packers Win 20-10
HEAD COACH BOBBY ROSS
"This was not a disappointing effort. We played hard, we were physical.
It's just that some opportunities we were not able to capitalize on.
"Two things killed us: the interception that went for a touchdown and our
failure to get in after the fumble and recovery. That's something we
cannot do."
(on the Packers) "They're a good football team."
(on the interceptions of Scott Mitchell) "We struggled with the protection
with the pressure they put on us."
(on whether Mitchell tentative) "No, it's just that he missed on some big
plays.
"We played bad and came up short. The interceptions hurt us.
Green Bay made some things happen. They played well defensively."
With 4:07 remaining in the game, Ross said that Detroit 'had to abandon the
running game, and then we got sacked twice. Until then we wanted to keep
running."
Ross indicated that he plans no changes at quarterback, saying, "We just
gotta be careful with what we do with the ball."
(on Gilbert Brown) He's a big guy. We struggled with him early in the
game."
TIGHT END DAVID SLOAN
"We gotta bounce back.
"Scott's (Mitchell) a leader, he's a champion, he's a winner -- we just
didn't execute.
"Don't write us out of the division. There's a lot of season left to play.
Some bad breaks today just didn't go our way."
RUNNING BACK BARRY SANDERS
"They stopped our running game. That forced us to make some mistakes.
"(Gilbert) Brown made a couple of plays. He did a good job on our running
game.
"We felt we could win, but in the end they took over and stopped our charge.
"We have been able to run the ball pretty well for the last
month-and-a-half. We still have some exciting days ahead."
(on going over 100 yards rushing, Sanders said records take a back seat to
the game)
