Green Bay vs. Detroit - Postgame Quotes - Green Bay

Regular Season - Packers Win 20-10

HEAD COACH MIKE HOLMGREN:

(on the play of the defense) "A great defensive effort covered up a lot of things tonight. I thought it was a really fine defensive effort against a team with some special weapons, in my opinion."

(on containing Barry Sanders) "You kind of think Barry is going to get his 100 (yards). But I think we did a real fine job on him. Fritz (Shurmur) did a nice job disguising some things to make them audible."

(on the team's improvement since the loss at Detroit) "I've said that I think that game a month ago was our worst game of the year. We're playing better now than we were then. This was an important game to win. Any time you can get a win in the division, it's good."

(on utilizing Darren Sharper) "I talked to Fritz about it. I just thought it was time for him to step up and play. He's a talented young man who has experienced some growing pains. He made a great play tonight. I hope this jump-starts him and gets him going."

QUARTERBACK BRETT FAVRE:

(on Coach Holmgren's game plan) "I think he called a really good game. Offensively, we did enough to win. We could have done things better, me especially. But we knew it would be that kind of ballgame. Our defense played an exceptional game."

(on whether his turf toe bothered him) "It hurt a little bit, but I really didn't think about it. Somewhere in the game I sprained my ankle, so that took some of the pressure off the toe."

(on whether he thinks the Packers are "lucky" to be 7-2) "I look at it as we should be 9-0. Tom Lovat said it best in the locker room -- there are no ugly wins and no pretty losses. We'll take them any way we can get them."

DEFENSIVE BACK DARREN SHARPER:

(on his reaction to his interception) "I'll tell you what, I was telling my fellow rookie Ross Verba on the field before the game that the Lord works in miraculous ways. It's funny how you visualize things. I was just in awe of the situation. I couldn't believe it happened to me."

WIDE RECEIVER ROBERT BROOKS:

SAFETY LeROY BUTLER:

(on whether he thought the defense got better as the game went on) "Yes. I think conditioning has a lot to do with it. We're a well-conditioned team. I think we wore them down a little bit at the end."

(on what caused the sudden bevy of turnovers) "Constructive criticism. When you see in the paper that you're not getting enough turnovers, that helps."
