Travis Jervey rushed for 100 yards and 2 touchdowns in only 9 carries in the first half
For all practical purposes, Saturday night's game was basically over at halftime, at which point the Packers held a 21-0 lead over the New Orleans Saints.

New Orleans spoiled the shutout late in the third quarter when safety Chris Hewitt waylaid a David Klingler pass along the east sidelines and returned it 25 yards for an instant touchdown.

But that proved to be the extent of it for the Saints, the Packers subsequently adding a 32-yard Brett Conway field goal early in the fourth quarter and Raymont Harris scoring on a one-yard run late in that final period to complete the evening's scoring.

The Packers, in contrast to their uneven getaway against Kansas City at Tokyo a week earlier, took immediate charge in this one, sweeping to a pair of scores and a 14-0 lead on their first two possessions.

Quarterback Brett Favre, precisely on target, and running back Travis Jervey, continuing to amass rushing yards in large chunks, escorted the Packers on a 6-play, 71-yard scoring drive following the opening kickoff, Favre completing the project with a 2-yard bullseye to tight end Mark Chmura in the right corner of the end zone, Chmura making the catch as he fell to the turf.

Then, a little more deliberate, Favre and Jervey again collaborated on a successful, 10-play, 48-yard march, Jervey bolting up the middle from 2 yards out for the score.

Jervey also officiated at the Packers' third touchdown in the second quarter, breaking off left tackle, into the open and easily outrunning his New Orleans pursuit down Lambeau Field's west sideline to the end zone.

Doug Pederson, who had replaced Favre, presided over this drive - a 7-play, 80-yard trek - hitting Bill Schroeder with 23 and 25-yard strikes en route.

Favre, retiring to the sideline in the third minute of the second quarter, had completed his evening's work with 7 completions in 8 attempts for 86 yards and one touchdown.

Pederson closed out his stint with 3 completions for 54 yards, with one interception, Klingler hit on 2 of 10 attempts for 10 yards, also with one interception; and rookie Matt Hasselbeck was 0-for-1 in his fourth quarter appearance.
