Green Bay vs. Oakland - Postgame Quotes - Green Bay

Pre-Season - Packers Lose 27-21

COACH HOLMGREN'S POSTGAME COMMENTS:
(on his initial thoughts of the game) "I'm a little angry -- I'm very disappointed. In the preseason, our goals are always the same: First of all we would like to win the game, then our execution and evaluate our younger players who are key. These are the things we try to accomplish in the preseason and we didn't have the execution part of it today."

(on how the staff will evaluate the running backs -- with Raymont Harris facing the first team defense and Travis Jervey facing substitutes) "That's what we do. I think on the coaching staff, we probably have about 80 years of experience and that's a long time. So, we take that into consideration certainly. We also look -- and you can see it on film -- a guy makes a move, makes something happen and that we can evaluate."

(on the fumbled snaps between the quarterback and center) "I don't know what happened. I played quarterback, so when it happens, you usually know it. But, sometimes you don't. It just happens, but simply we can't have that happen. That has to be as automatic as anything you do on the football field. It can't happen."

(on the play of running back Raymont Harris) "He did all right. He did fine. I wanted to give him a chance to be with the first group and then we'll just see. I don't think he had a lot of room in there."

(on Harris' foot) "His foot is sore. I think that has to do with his surgery in the offseason. He says it's feeling OK, but then every once in awhile I see him limping on it. I wouldn't say he is 100 percent."

(on not using the shotgun formation) "I was planning to unveil the shotgun, with our first unit, but they were so woefully pathetic that I didn't want to add a new wrinkle to it. It may have blown me away. We will save that unveiling for another day.

(on not using the headset the second half) "Well, everyone once in awhile, Andy (Reid) and Sherman (Lewis) will call the play. It's good practice for both of them."

(on quarterback Doug Pederson's play) "He did some good things, but he can't be fumbling snaps. Those are things that really change momentum. You just can't do that. Doug knows that, but it happens and that's a big responsibility."

(on Conway's 46-yard field goal miss) "It was a long kick, 46-yarder. He stroked the ball well, he just pulled it a little left. I wanted him to kick the whole game and he did. I think his kickoffs were good, unfortunately he missed it."

(on the play of Tyrone Davis) "He made some nice plays. He caught the ball and stretched out a little bit. You saw how he could get down the field and I was pleased with that. Then he got knicked up a little bit, but he was able to play through that, which was a big plus."

(on the style of running back Travis Jervey) "It's not startling. I've always expected him to be able to do that. He just can't hold on to the football and that has been the only problem. Occasionally I'll question him on the football field and he'll give me that glazed look and I'm not sure if I am penetrating the ozone. But, he certainly is off to a great start. He's fast, he's strong and he catches the ball well and he is having a great preseason."

(on breaking the winning streak) "I never really count the preseason, but I'm not really shooken up about it."

(on the penalties) "It's awful, it's terrible and we'll continue to talk about it. We must eliminate them. It really hurts you and we'll continue to work on that. We have a lot of young players that work real hard and those things will happen."

(on his thoughts on Instant Replay) "I like instant replay. I like the idea of having it. We weren't in the position today to make one of those calls, but I think it can be used for those things you can't see in a normal game. Things that maybe are for the big call at the end of the game that people at home watching TV can see that it's wrong. Fix it. And that's what it's for. It's not to delay the game and I think they have a very workable system now, so I'm all for this experiment and I think it can work."

(on the play of wide receiver Corey Bradford and the wide receiver situation) "Well, he did some good things. That will go right down to the wire. This week it was Corey Bradford, next week it may be Roell Preston. The wide receiver situation will not be cleared up until that last day."

QUARTERBACK DOUG PEDERSON:
(on the fumbled snaps from center) "Frank (Winters) and I have had some snaps in practice, but this is the first time we've been in a game situation together. It's a situation where each center has his own rhythm and his own timing and I was just off. He made some good snaps and I didn't have my hand on the ball and I just have to be prepared for that. If something happens like that, I have to be ready.

"We get a lot of snaps together. It's not a new thing for Frank and I we'll just have to get on the same page and we were just out of sync today."

(on the tone at halftime) "Well, we wanted to redeem ourselves. We just had to regroup basically and refocus. We just had to go out there and take care of business in the second half."

(on whether he is concerned with the coaching staff having second thoughts on him as the No. 2 quarterback) "No. It's just something I have to work on and get better at. A lot of mistakes and corrections that can be made this week."

SAFETY MIKE PRIOR:
(on overall defensive performance) "The outcome of the game wasn't too good. I'll have to look at the game film and see what happened to us. We didn't tackle great, we didn't cover great. We have to close our gaps down and knock them off the field when we need to."

WIDE RECEIVER ROELL PRESTON:
(on touchdown catch) "I think it helped me out a lot by catching and scoring. I know it's going to be tough deciding (who makes the roster at wide receiver). So I just go out there, do my best, and hope I'm the one they chose."

WIDE RECEIVER DERRICK MAYES:
(on his performance) "I don't think my personal performance matters. We lost."

(on where the the team goes from here) "We go back to work to get back to where we were. We'll get there. It's preseason."

KICKER BRETT CONWAY:
(on his performance) "I kicked the ball well in warmups. The 46-yard kick I missed went right down the middle and the wind took it."

RUNNING BACK TRAVIS JERVEY:
(on the potential return of running back Dorsey Levens) "He's an All-Pro running back. You know, put him back there with William (Henderson), and at the same time, put him back there with me. Mix it up. We'll keep the defense on their toes."

(on the comeback that fell short) "Time ran out. I wish we had some more time on the clock, so we could finish things where we started. But that's football."

WIDE RECEIVER COREY BRADFORD:
(on his fourth-quarter touchdown catch) "I thought, we're at the goal line, we have to get in. I got the call, and I just concentrated on the ball and looked it in."
