Green Bay vs. Tampa Bay - Postgame Quotes - Green Bay

Regular Season - Packers Win 26-23

COACH RHODES'S POSTGAME COMMENTS:

overall impressions of the game: "We didn't play well tonight. We did not function like I wanted us to function. As a team we have to get this corrected."

on the character of the football team: "The fact that our team refuses to lose says a lot about the character of this football team. We have to play a lot better so our team doesn't put itself in the situation that has so far."

on the NFC Central: "I've said all along, this is a dog eat dog conference that will go down to the wire. That just makes this win more important to our football team."

THE PLAYER PERSPECTIVE:

QUARTERBACK BRETT FAVRE
on the intentional grounding penalty: "I was just trying to get outside. I thought I saw a receiver in front of me. I could barely make out who it was. It was a dumb play, if you want to call it dumb. But this shows that I will take chances."

on his physical condition: "I hit my thumb again right before halftime. We haven't done x-rays yet, but I think we're back to square one. My shoulder, it is a stinger, or whatever you want to call it. Good thing we won, this could have been a long week."

on the last play: "That play was designed to go to Antonio (Freeman) on a crossing route or we have 10-yard square outs to the left. Depending on the coverage, I had to make a choice. I asked Frank (Winters) if he wanted to use the shotgun, he said, 'No problem,' because I knew they would blitz. At the line of scrimmage I could tell Free had one-on-one coverage, and I like that matchup. So, I gave him a little signal at the line to cross and go; he made a hell of a play."

WIDE RECEIVER ANTONIO FREEMAN
on his winning touchdown catch: "They looked like they were going to blitz. Brett made a check at the line of scrimmage. I beat my man off the line, Brett threw it up, the backs picked up the blitz. I went and got it, and we got the victory."

on getting open for the TD catch: "After I beat my man, I saw a wide-open field. I saw the safeties come up to blitz, so after I gave my man my hard move to the inside -- it was wide open."

on his "breakout" game: "It feels good to have a game like this. It has been a long time coming. Most of the season I've been facing a lot of double coverage, and it just felt good to come out and have a breakout game."

PLACE KICKER RYAN LONGWELL
on tying his career high for field goals made: "It feels good. I hit the ball real well. None of them were real easy, Tampa's defense is real good. It seems we always kick a lot of field goals against Tampa."

SAFETY DARREN SHARPER
on his interception: "We were in a zone coverage. He just threw it into my zone. He threw it a little higher than he probably should have, it wasn't a hard play. I just had to catch it."

DEFENSIVE END KEITH McKENZIE
on his sack and fumble recovery: "I beat my guy around the corner. I saw Dilfer coming and I knew he can scramble well. So, I took off after him. I saw the ball hanging there, so I went for the ball. I got the sack, and the ball just landed in my lap. I landed on the ball."

RUNNING BACK DORSEY LEVENS
on his performance: "I played all right. It doesn't matter how I played, we won the game. That is all that matters to me. I don't think about individual numbers, just wins."

WIDE RECEIVER BILL SCHROEDER
on his peformance: "It was just one of those days they played a lot of cover nine. The corners kept letting me get outside of them. Brett kept finding me. It was a real good day. Thank goodness Brett is still on our team."
