Wide receiver Bill Schroeder snares a 6-yard bullet from Brett Favre in traffic for a touchdown, giving the Packers a 21-3 lead early in the 3rd quarter.

The Green Bay Packers (4-2) used six San Diego Chargers (4-2) turnovers and converted them into 21 points en route to a 31-3 victory in Qualcomm Stadium in front of 68,274 fans of mixed loyalties.

The last time the Packers intercepted their opponent six times was against the Denver Broncos on September 26, 1971 in Milwaukee, a game the Packers won 34-13.

The Packers started early, forcing the Chargers to punt on their opening possession. Once San Diego regained possession, they were able to put together a drive in which they found themselves with a first and goal from the 5-yard line. Erik Kramer tried to find Reggie Davis in the end zone, but Mike McKenzie stepped in front for the interception.

Brett Favre quickly hit Antonio Freeman for a 55-yard completion. Two plays later, Favre connected with Bill Schroeder for a 22-yard completion. Favre then hit William Henderson for a 7-yard TD strike.

After the kickoff and a running play, Kramer was intercepted again, this time by Fred Vinson, setting the Packers offense up at the Chargers 28-yard line. Once again, the Packers offense moved the ball, and Dorsey Levens ran left from six yards out for a touchdown, staking the Packers to a 14-0 lead.

San Diego answered with a 28-yard field goal by John Carney, in what would be their only tally of the afternoon. The score at halftime was 14-3.

The second Packers possession of the second half saw the running game get on track. Levens started the drive with a 10-yard run. Favre then went deep to Corey Bradford. Terrance Shaw couldn't keep up with the speedster and was called for pass interference, giving the Packers possession at the Chargers 6-yard line. Favre then connected with Schroeder for a 6-yard touchdown strike. The athletic Schroeder proceeded to leap and "dunk" the football over the crossbar of the field goal post.

The ensuing Chargers possession was thwarted by Tyrone Williams who intercepted Kramer at the Packers 1-yard line. A steady dose of Dorsey Levens allowed the Packers to efficiently move the ball down the field. Levens accounted for 74 yards on the 99-yard drive, 49 yards rushing and 25 yards receiving. Favre hit Freeman with a 3-yard laser for a touchdown to cap the drive.

In an effort to shake up the offense, Chargers coach Mike Riley replaced quarterback Erik Kramer with Jim Harbaugh. However, the fate of the new quarterback would not be better. Harbaugh's first pass was intercepted by Tyrone Williams.

On the ensuing Chargers possession, the "Bolts" opted to try to convert a fourth and 8, but Harbaugh was sacked by Keith McKenzie.

Matt Hasselbeck relieved Brett Favre, who finished with 12 completions on 22 attempts for 173 yards and 3 touchdowns. Hasselbeck was unsuccessful on his first set of downs, and the Packers punted.

Harbaugh proceeded to give possession back to the Green and Gold as he was intercepted by Darren Sharper.

This time Hasselbeck led the offense on an eight play, 38 yard drive resulting in a 46-yard Ryan Longwell field goal. The drive also featured De'Mond Parker, who ran for 35 yards on 4 carries. He was spelling Dorsey Levens who had 21 carries for 77 yards and one touchdown.

Antuan Edwards intercepted Harbaugh on the Chargers' last possession. Mike McKenzie and Bernardo Harris led the defense with 8 tackles apiece. Vonnie Holliday and Keith McKenzie each registered sacks, whileBilly Lyon and Jermaine Smith each tallied one-half of a sack.

The Green and Gold have an extra day in the upcoming week, as they host former head coach Mike Holmgren and the Seattle Seahawks on Monday, November 1 at 8:00 p.m..
