HEAD COACH VINCE TOBIN
overall impressions of the game:
"We did a lot of good things out there today. Jake (Plummer) had a good
game, even with the three interceptions. He played quite well.
"When you're not in the playoffs, you're disappointed. That's the objective,
all the way to the Super Bowl.
"We didn't achieve our earlier goals. We got to 6-6, but then couldn't win
down the stretch. We just couldn't find a way to win."
on the final minutes of the game, Tobin denied he was coaching against the
point differential (Packers and Panthers):
"We were out to win the football game."
on his evaluation of the season and the players:
"We'll look hardest at the last games of the year and we'll find out what we
need to win.
"Now we all have to get away from the game. This was a demanding year. Jake
played the best of all year in this game.
"He (Jake Plummer) took care of the ball, he managed the game pretty well."
on the Cardinals' defense:
"We gave up too many big plays. We had trouble stopping the run."
DEFENSIVE END TOM BURKE
"I learned a lot about what I have to be to become a better player. I'm
going to let my body heal for a few weeks and then work to put on some
weight -- 15-20 pounds by the time I come to camp. I'll be ready to play
any position, defensive end or linebacker.
"I'm pretty satisfied with the year. I had a couple of sacks -- I think I
did pretty well. I showed I could play the run at my size."
QUARTERBACK JAKE PLUMMER
"The season didn't turn out the way we wanted it to. It was frustrating. We
didn't do what we needed to do when it counted. But we can resolve that.
"We have a lot of free agents this year; I hope we can keep them all.
"We learned as a team today. We know we want to step up -- we have to show
that we are tough.
"It was just in the last two weeks that I thought I was getting into my
rhythm.
"This was a tough game. They're (Packers) a tough team. But we hung in
there, we wanted to win. We just didn't get it done.
"We know we need some improvement. We gotta go back and work hard in the
offseason.
"Next year will be a completely different year."
