Green Bay vs. Chicago - Postgame Quotes - Green Bay

Regular Season - Packers Lose 27-24

HEAD COACH MIKE SHERMAN:

(on the game) "Any time you lose a game, it's tough. It's a tough loss. We did make a battle there and I thought we had a chance to win.

"I never saw a start of a game that could go more wrong. The first five minutes were about as ugly as it gets.

"There is no way we overlooked this game. We knew the importance of this game...We didn't lose because we overlooked the Bears, I can promise you."

(on the on-side kick decision) "I feel like we made the right decision because we had a chance to win the game. You can second-guess that all you want, but I would make the same decision again given the situation."

(on the Packers' defense) "We gave up big plays, couldn't maintain Cade McNown at times, but I felt our defense played well enough for us to win early."

(on the mistakes) "I don't think it's a lack of concentration. I think our guys are trying to make plays -- we just didn't make them."

(on the running game) "I think we would have sorted out our running game woes if it had been closer. I don't think this is a fair assessment of our running game because we were forced to pass."

(on the season) "This is our fifth game. We still have a long way to go. I think our best days are ahead of us."

QUARTERBACK BRETT FAVRE:

(on the game) "No one let anybody down. No one is to blame, not one person. We are all in this together.

"It was great how we came back, put points on the board. It was awful how we started.

"We're the ones that made it happen or didn't make it happen, so we have no one to blame but ourselves. If we want to do something about it, we can. It's as simple as that."

(on the last series) "Once we got the ball on the last drive, I had a feeling we would do it. When it didn't happen, I just thought, 'What else can you do?' I feel like I did everything I could."

(on the first-play interception) "Someone on the sideline asked if I made a bad throw. I said, 'No, I made a great throw, just a bad read.'"

(on the Bears) "Their whole team played well. We can sit here and say we did this, we did that. But you have to give them credit -- they deserved it."

(on the season) "We have a lot of games left. This game was a rollercoaster. Who knows what the rest of the season holds? But you can't think of it that way. You can't look at it that way. You have to look at what we have next week."

DEFENSIVE END CLETIDUS HUNT:

(on his first start) "I had my mind set going into the game that I was going to do whatever was necessary to help this team win. The guys expected me to stand up and be a man and play with intensity."

(on the game's intensity) "I knew from last year that it was going to be physical, so I just went in with a mindset to play hard-nosed, physical football."

LINEBACKER BRIAN WILLIAMS:

(on returning from his knee injury) "I guess I was anxious to get out there, and then once I finally got out there, the butterflies kicked in. But once I got out there and got into the flow of things, it felt pretty good. It was just nice to be back out there on the field playing with those guys. Now I need to work on my cardio a little bit."

(on the team's late comeback) "It was one of those games. We kept stressing the whole game that we're not out of it, we're not out of it. I think that's just the attitude that this team has - the fight and the will that this team has. No one ever gave up. Our defense never gave up, and the offense never gave up."

(on the offense) "We knew they were going to finally start clicking, and they did late in the third and fourth quarter, and then the defense stepped up. We just fell a little short."

(on next week) "We have to regroup and try to get back on track next week."

DEFENSIVE TACKLE SANTANA DOTSON:

(on turnovers) "Today the ball was really bouncing in their favor. We had people in position to make plays, make interceptions, pick up balls that were on the ground, but unfortunately the ball bounced to them."

(on the defense) "As a defense, the biggest thing is, you have to keep them out of the end zone. If you make the tackle, then those touchdowns turn into field goals, and we're sitting in a much different locker room."

SAFETY LEROY BUTLER:

(on the second quarter Marcus Robinson touchdown) "It was a high ball up into the wind, and I collided with Tyrone Williams. I was going for the interception, and he made a great catch. It was strictly my fault, totally my fault."

(on Cade McNown escaping from a potential third-quarter safety) "We had a situation, where we were blitzing. I come up the middle and Brian (Williams) stays wide to try to keep him in the pocket. You couldn't draw it up any better, but the guy blocked it and he got outside. That would have been the play of the game if we could have sacked him and got a safety. But he (McNown) made a great play. He scrambled and got outside where the weakness of the defense was. You have to tip your hat to him."

(on Cade McNown) "He took a lot of hits today. For a guy coming in with so much criticism, he came in and played pretty good.

(on the team's start) "We didn't come out of the blocks like we're supposed to, and I think that's what got us in this hole."

WIDE RECEIVER BILL SCHROEDER:

(on falling behind early) "We didn't do anything right in the first half. Everything we tried not to do, happened. Unfortunately that took us out of the game early, but we never gave up and came up a little short. So we have to be sure we don't do those things early."

(on the team's early mistakes) "I can't say anything until I look at the tape. There are a lot of things that everybody did wrong, and we just have to go back and correct the mistakes."

(on the difference between the first and second halves) "We were making the same calls and running the same plays. I don't know what it is. We'll look at the film and see what it was."

TIGHT END BUBBA FRANKS:

(on his first start) "I tried to give the team a little spark. I tried to take advantage of the opportunity. Hopefully, I did.

"Ty (Davis) was hurt. I had to step up and have a good game."

(on Brett Favre looking to pass to him) "On the first play, he tried to get me the ball. Even though it was an interception, it gave me a lot of confidence, and I just went from there."

(on the team's effort) "We gave it our all. We just came up short."

WIDE RECEIVER ANTONIO FREEMAN:

(on losing to the Bears) "I think the fact that it's the Bears, that makes it that much worse.

"We had a nice little run of two games. We felt like this was a game we could win. It's disappointing to come out of it with a loss."
