Postgame Quotes - Green Bay

GM/HEAD COACH MIKE SHERMAN
(on how the team responds to RB-Dorsey Levens's injury) "Somebody needs to step up and take his position. I feel that we have depth at running back, fortunately, and someone has to step up and be that guy. We went through the same situation last year and we just hope that ahman Green and some of the other guys can step up and do it again like they did last year."

(on Green Bay's 11 penalties) "It looked like it was our first preseason game. I would have hoped that we would have been more disciplined. We were fifth in the league in penalties last year and we did not play like that tonight. Special teams and the offensive line had a couple [penalties] that dug a hole for us. The defensive line jumped numerous times. Eleven penalties in a game is uncharacteristic of us, maybe not at this time of the year."

(on backup QB-Doug Pederson's performance) "I thought he played pretty well. He got himself out of trouble. He moved around when he needed to. I felt bad for Billy Joe [Tolliver]. I meant to get him in the game but I didn't want Doug to end on the interception so I put him back in and he did a nice job of driving us back down the field and we had a chance to score before we turned the ball over."

(on the costly turnovers) "We learn lessons from these games. You cannot turn the ball over. Usually the coaches who lost tonight in the National Football League in the preseason will say that you shouldn't turn the ball over. That was the case tonight."

QB DOUG PEDERSON
(On team performance) "We really had high expectations coming into tonight and scored only three points. That is just something we are going to have to work on. Our red zone offense was not as effective as we had liked. Two turnovers down there was the game."

(On his interception in the red zone) "It is really a situation where I tried to get a little greedy. You can not do that down there. You have to take what the defense has given you in a blitz situation and my tight end was wide open."

RB AHMAN GREEN
(On team's penalties and turnovers) "Those were the two main things tonight that hurt us. Offensively, we moved the ball real well. You can not have a lot of false starts and holding penalties. You have to eliminate them. We just have to correct our mistakes."

RB RONDELL MEALEY
(On his goal line fumble) "I really can not explain it. I got hit the wrong way and the ball just came up. I just do not know what happened."

(On his overall performance) "I think everything went well. I made mistakes with the fumble and a few other ones. That is why there is next week. I will learn from my mistakes. It is really important for me to come back and have an all right game next week like I had tonight."

DT JIM FLANIGAN
(On how the team played) "We definitely need to keep improving, there were a lot of penalties, and a few missed tackles. We just need to continue work hard and move forward."

(How he felt about the loss) "Of course we never want to lose due to the competitive nature of the sport, but it is preseason. This game was important because it showed us what we need to improve on and correct."

LB CHRIS GIZZI
(On how he felt to play in his hometown) "It was a very special feeling to play in front of my family and friends, a lot of it could have been a distraction, but I think I kept it all in check."

(On the game) "It was a good experience, we just need to come away with a win next time."

(On how you feel you played) "I can only speak for myself, but I am happy with the progress I have made. I just need to keep working hard and improving."
