Denver Broncos vs. Green Bay Packers - 08/20/01

Postgame Quotes - Denver

HEAD COACH MIKE SHANAHAN:

(on the game) "Statistically, this was about as poor an offensive effort as you could get. We had two turnovers and six penalties - that was too much.

"I was proud that we didn't panic, even though we helped them out with our own personal fouls.

"It was pretty embarrassing. I'm glad that we held them to only three points until the half. But after that it was a fiasco."

(regarding the Eric Brown hit on antonio Freeman, Shanahan said he couldn't see the play, but said it was an example of Brown "trying to be a football player.")

(on WR Kevin Kasper) "He played pretty good. He played hard and made one nice catch.

"There are four preseason games. When we're down, we will have to make some decisions."

SAFETY ERIC BROWN:

(regarding his hit on antonio Freeman) "I thought I timed it just right. I tried to get him at the shoulders. I had my arms up. It was a tough call. We are taught to hit away. He was getting ready to catch the call and I made the hit. The ref said nothing. I was surprised to see the flag. I will be unhappy if I am fined."

RUNNING BACK MIKE ANDERSON:

"There were too many mistakes. We had (four) turnovers - we are not all that happy about that. With that (turnovers), you can't win a ballgame. The main thing is for us not to carry that over to the next game. That has a snowball effect."

(on his dropped pass) "It was a play I should have made. It could have been a touchdown. We just have to not make mistakes. We made some pitiful mistakes tonight."
