WR Corey Bradford had 3 catches for 96 yards, including an 87-yard TD, against Oakland.
Green Bay accomplished two of three goals in a 24-13 loss to Oakland in each team's final preseason game. On the positive side, the Packers survived the game without any major injuries and found plenty of time for back-ups to audition for final rosters spots before Sunday's mandatory cut down. On the flip side, the Packers dropped to 2-2 in the exhibition campaign while the Raiders upped their mark to 3-2.

Ball control was a key factor as the silver and black held the ball for more than 60 percent of the game. Last season's number one rushing offense piled up 203 yards on the ground compared to just 37 yards for the Packers. The other telling stat were third down conversions. The Packers did not convert on third down until 3 seconds remained on the game clock in the 4th quarter. They finished the night 1-of-12 on third down conversions while the Raiders made good on 7-of-16 attempts.

There were major positives GM/Head Coach Mike Sherman can build on going into the regular season opener next week versus Detroit. His troops committed zero turnovers and were penalized just 4 times for 25 yards during the game. Oakland was penalized 11 times for 101 yards while turning the ball over once.

As expected neither starting quarterback played more than a couple series with Brett Favre making more of an impact than Oakland's Rich Gannon. The Green Bay field general rifled an 87-yard scoring bomb to Corey Bradford in the first quarter. The touchdown was Bradford's second in as many weeks. Favre finished the completing 2-of-5 passes for 99 yards. Meanwhile, Gannon retired after 5-of-6 passing for 49 yards.

Each team scored on its second drive with the Raiders marching the ball 85 yards down field culminating in a 49-yard touchdown run by Tyrone Wheatley. The Packers answered back just 31 seconds later with the Favre to Bradford connection for a touchdown.

Oakland used a 37-yard field goal from Sebastian Janikowski and a Terry Kirby 1-yard touchdown run to increase their lead to 17-7 in the second quarter. Green Bay's Ryan Longwell cut the halftime deficit to 7 with a 27-yard field goal. Longwell would add a 43-yard field goal in the fourth to complete Green Bay's scoring for the night.

In the battle of the back-ups, Oakland's quarterback Bobby Hoying finished the night 9-of-18 for 89 yards. Rodney Peete was a perfect 5-fo-5 for 46 yards and a touchdown, while rookie Mark Tuiasosopo finished the game completing 1-of-2 passes for 4 yards.

For the Packers, Doug Pederson controlled the second quarter going 5-of-10 for 42 yards. The second half featured former Canadian League standout Henry Burris in his most extensive action this preseason. The young quarterback threw for 170 yards on 13-for-24 passing including a long pass of 40 yards to Robert Ferguson.

Ferguson had his best game so far catching 3 balls for 59 yards. He was forced to leave the game early after being illegally hit by Raymond Perryman going over the middle. He suffered a mild concussion from the blow to the jaw. Bradford led the receiving corps with 96 yards on 3 catches, while De'Mond Parker hauled in 5 receptions for 50 yards.

Fighting for a final roster spot with Herbert "Whisper" Goodman, Parker added 16 yards rushing. Goodman gained just 15 yards on 6 carries in a starting role. Neither back distinguished himself from the other in an attempt to move up on the depth chart.

Battling for the lone remaining safety position, both Scott McGarrahan and Chris akins recorded four tackles on the night. Linebacker Torrance Marshall dished out two punishing hits on his way to four tackles. Rookie cornerback Bhawoh Jue lead the club with 7 stops from the secondary. Long snapper Rob Davis recovered a fumble on a muffed punt in the second quarter.

Allen Rossum and David Martin were late scratches due to minor injuries. Rossum sat out due to a pulled hamstring from Thursday's practice. Martin missed the game with a mild shoulder injury, but both will be ready to play in the season opener against Detroit.
