In Minneapolis, there has been a movement to build a new stadium for the Vikings to replace the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. Green Bay would certainly support such a move as the Packers' woes in Minnesota continued in a 35-13 loss this afternoon.

Playing without injured wide receiver Bill Schroeder, the Packers (4-2) struggled offensively controlling the ball for just over 22 minutes and gaining 234 total yards. Meanwhile, the Vikings (3-3) held onto the ball for more than 37 minutes totaling 377 yards.

Holding Minnesota to a three-and-out on the first drive, Green Bay drove into field goal range. Ryan Longwell missed a 51-yard kick wide right, the first of two missed attempts in the game. He also missed a 42-yard attempt in the second quarter.

Safety Chris akins forced a fumble on punt coverage following the Packers' second drive giving Green Bay the ball on the Minnesota 16-yard line. Faced with a fourth-and-two inside the 10-yard line, Ahman Green was stopped short of the first down marker.

In the first half, the league's third-ranked defense forced a Daunte Culpepper fumble and held Minnesota to two field goals and a long touchdown pass. The Vikings' Chris Carter scored on a 43-yard pass from Culpepper to open the scoring for the game.

Two plays later Minnesota scored its second touchdown when Kailee Wong intercepted a Brett Favre pass and returned it 27 yards for the score. It's the second Favre pass intercepted and returned for a touchdown this season.

Early in the second quarter Green Bay's LeRoy Butler left the game with a bruised sternum and was replaced by akins. The x-ray results at the stadium were negative and he will be further evaluated back in Green Bay. Butler, who started his 113th consecutive game, did not return to the game.

The Vikings held a 20-0 lead going into halftime and the Packers never recovered.

The Packers showed signs of life when Favre hit tight end Bubba Franks for a two-yard touchdown pass on the opening drive of the third quarter, but Green Bay did not reach the end zone again until less than a minute remained in the game.

Favre finished the game going 21-35 for 169 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Culpepper completed 18 of 27 attempts for 184 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed nine times for 74 yards and another score.

Packer wide receiver Charles Lee caught his first NFL touchdown pass, a three- yard dart from Favre, with 45 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. antonio Freeman paced the Packers receivers with five catches for 57 yards. Corey Bradford hauled in four passes for 32 yards and Donald Driver added two receptions for 17 yards.

For Minnesota, the dangerous Randy Moss did not score and caught eight passes for 73 yards. Carter had three catches for 60 yards and tight end Byron Chamberlain added three grabs for 26 yards.

With first-round draft pick Michael Bennett sidelined due to an injury, Doug Chapman got the start at running back for Minnesota and responded with 90 yards on 22 carries. Fullback Jim Kleinsasser rushed five times for 20 yards and also scored his first NFL touchdown to put the Vikings up 35-7 late in the game.

The Packers' Green carried just 11 times for 73 yards and caught five passes for 36 yards. His 61-yard run in the third quarter set up the Packers' first score of the game.

The Packer offense at times had trouble in the noisy Metrodome. Center Mike Flanagan twice snapped the ball by Favre in the shotgun formation and Green managed just four yards on eight carries in the first half.

Minnesota fumbled the ball five times and lost just two. The Packers were unable to score any points off Viking turnovers while the home team scored a touchdown on Green Bay's lone giveaway.

In his first game back since leaving the Detroit game with a bad hamstring, Allen Rossum returned kickoffs and punts for the Packers averaging over 18 yards a return.

Today's was Green Bay's most lopsided loss in the regular season since a 36-14 defeat at Dallas on Oct. 3, 1993.
