PACKERS POST-GAME QUOTES
HEAD COACH MIKE SHERMAN
(general comments on game)
It's been a tough week of practice, obviously, getting ready for this game, but obviously our secondary was exploited by a great quarterback and receiving corps. They did an excellent job of exploiting us. We played a multitude of looks and coverages to try and confuse them, but obviously we did not do that. (Peyton Manning) performed as he usually does, in a stellar fashion.
(on the Colts' offense)
They did a great job with their play-pass, absorbed our safeties early, and then they had us one-on-one on the outside because the safeties were supporting the run. They started the game with a fair number of play-action passes that were fairly effective. We pressured about 30 percent of the time in the game overall and had some hits on the quarterback early, but he was talented enough and quick enough to get rid of the ball where he made some really good plays.
QB-BRETT FAVRE
(on injury)
I think I got kicked or kneed in the hamstring or so the coaches told me. It doesn't feel real good right now. It feels more like a charlie-horse than an actual hamstring pull.
(on Colts' big plays in the first half)
Obviously it was a concern of ours going into half-time because that was putting a lot of pressure on us and it felt like we had to score on every possession. It was a real shoot-out between both teams. But we knew it was going to be that way and it was on our minds on practice all week, especially playing in their place. In the second half, in the huddle, I tried to tell our guys not to get down and that we had nothing to loose, so lets have fun. And I told our receivers you're going to have plenty of balls thrown your way. I have to give them (Colts) credit, they played a heck of a game. We just couldn't match them in the scoring category."
(on WR-Javon Walker)
He had a great day and I know how he felt after that last play. I know he will really feel bad about that play. That's the kind of guy he is. He really cares and that's what counts. The good part about today with these players if there was bright spot, is that these players really want to win. We are just going back to the drawing board this week to prepare for next week's game.
(on QB-Peyton Manning)
There's not much more you can say other than he has developed into a great player and he had a great game.
WR-JAVON WALKER
(on Packers' offensive game)
We just wanted to come out and try and compete. That's a great team. We just tried to execute our offense to the best of our ability and put up points.
That's what we do. We knew we were going to have to go out and make plays. Bret's comfortable with us doing that.
(on his fumble)
It shouldn't have happened. I should have secured the ball better. It's something I'm going to work on.
(on competing against the injured Colts' secondary)
Banged up or not banged up, we feel like we can do that every week. Things just didn't go our way in the end.
(on his touchdown receptions)
I didn't do anything but beat the defender. Nothing fancy, I just beat him. They might have blown a coverage on the third one because I was really wide open.
S - DARREN SHARPER
(on the Colts not running the ball early)
It was surprising, but once they started rolling, they saw they could get it to anyone on the passing game.
(on adjusting to the Colts no-huddle)
It was tough when they get going; it was tough to slow them down. Everything they did worked. The no-huddle added disarray to what we were trying to do.
RB - WILLIAM HENDERSON
(general on game)
(The Colts) did a lot of good things in the first half. They caused some soft spots. Every coverage, every defense has soft spots, and Peyton did a good job of picking his throws well.
