PACKERS-PATRIOTS POST-GAME QUOTES:
HEAD COACH MIKE MCCARTHY
(on status of Brett Favre) "He took a shot on the elbow. He was not able to gain strength in his (throwing) hand, as far as holding the football, controlling the football. As far as the future, how bad it is, I'd be speculating. "
(on if he thought Favre's injury was related to a nerve injury) "I think he took a shot on the nerve."
(on Favre's status after halftime, when he did not come out with the team) "When we came out of the locker room, he was trying to gain strength. As we went through the third quarter, I didn't get a series-by-series update."
(on specifics of injury) "Yeah, he hit right on a nerve. The funny bone nerve. I mean, we don't want to classify it."
(on if Favre was reporting pain after the injury) "(He was reporting) weakness - weakness in his hand strength."
(on if elbow had any effects on missing receivers prior to leaving the field) "I don't think his elbow factored in (missing receivers) earlier in the game."
(on big plays allowed by pass defense) "We had no communication problems. Our pass coverage was not very good on those particular plays. I'm not sure (whose fault it was) but I'm sure it had something to do with the safety play."
(on what positives can be taken from today's loss) "I'm a firm believer that (the) negative things that happen in your life can always result in positives. I'm into losing 35 nothing at this point in the season to try to gain something positive out of it. We will definitely learn from this experience, and there will be positive things that we learn and move on from."
(on if he would place blame on young offensive line being overmatched by experienced Patriots front seven) "I wouldn't put it on them. Frankly, those are excuses ... I wouldn't say it was the young guys' fault. There's plenty (of blame) to go around."
(on play of Aaron Rodgers today) "I think I put him in a tough situation, trying to get out there and throw the ball every time. He made some plays with his feet, and I think you could see his athletic ability. It was a great test for his preparation. Without seeing the film, I thought that he was okay."
(on confidence of playing Rodgers if Favre is unable to play next week and/or beyond) "(I have) full confidence. He's got talent, he's got ability, he has know-how, and when his opportunity comes, I want to get on the gas and go with him."
DEFENSIVE END AARON KAMPMAN:
(on team's performance) "I'm still kind of shocked by what happened today, I thought we were going to win the game today. Watching film this week, we thought this was going to be a great game for us, but obviously it didn't turn out that way. We'll regroup tomorrow."
(on being on the field so long) "We knew coming into the game that our offense was going to try to take advantage of what was a depleted secondary. That didn't happen for the most part and we were on the field for longer, but that's not an excuse. We had chances to get them off the field and couldn't do it."
LINEBACKER A.J. HAWK:
(on pressuring Tom Brady) "It makes everyone's job on defense a little easier when you get pressure on the quarterback. He plays with a lot of poise and made some big plays today."
(on bouncing back from a loss) "It's tough for maybe a day, but we have a big game Monday night against Seattle. We have to make sure we're ready for that."
(on seeing Favre get injured) "I was just hoping that it wasn't serious. I still don't really know what's going on. He's been playing for so long and never gets hurt, so I have full faith in Brett."
WIDE RECEIVER DONALD DRIVER:
(on getting shut out) "It is tough for us to take because that's what we do. We put points on the board. I can't believe we embarrassed ourselves here at Lambeau Field."
(on how it affects the team seeing Favre get hurt) "I don't think it affects us much. We know Aaron Rodgers can step in and take care of business and he did. He played well, but we tip our hats to what they did defensively. They played well. It does concern us a little bit that he didn't come back in. Not to see him back in was a big surprise, so we knew it must have been serious. We'll see what happens, but nobody really knows right now."
PATRIOTS HEAD COACH BILL BELICHECK :
(on playing a complete game) "I thought the players really stepped up and made plays in all three phases of the game. We did a nice job on special teams, and we played fairly well on defense. The most important thing for our football team is that we played a good football game for 60 minutes and we obviously need to do more of that. Things really seemed to go our way."
(on their play action success) "It is always part of our offense - the running game, play action pass. Those elements are always there. It came down to good execution by the players today."
(on protecting Tom Brady) "The guys all blocked - the offensive line, the tight ends, and the blitz pickups. They pumped their linebackers up. The Packers are hard to block, but our line did a good job in giving Tom enough time to throw."
PATRIOTS QUARTERBACK TOM BRADY:
(on the Patriots' opening touchdown) "It was play action and Dan (Graham) did a great job getting through there and finding a hole. He made a big catch on fourth down. It is nice to score on the opening drive because it really deflates the crowd."
(on the defense) "The defense played great. That is a pretty good offensive team, limiting them to the few yards that they got. It was great."
(on involving the tight ends) "I think that the scheme dictated getting those guys involved. They are a big part of our offense. It is just a matter of getting them the ball and getting them some space to work on linebackers. Anytime you have them on a linebacker, you got to feel that they can get open and take advantage of that mismatch."
PATRIOTS DEFENSIVE LINEMAN RICHARD SEYMOUR:
(on breaking their two-game losing streak) "It was good to get back on track. We came out with a lot of energy and we had a lot of fun. We put it all together today."
(on why this team is so good on the road) "Sometimes you take the mentality of me against the world. If you are going to do it, it is going to be these guys in the locker room. We had a lot of fans in the stands today. I saw a lot of Patriots' jerseys running around. We definitely give credit to the fans."
