The Green Bay Packers have signed wide receiver/kick returner Joey Jamison, a fifth-round draft selection out of Texas Southern, to a multi-year contract, Andrew Brandt, the team's director of player finance/football operations, announced today.

The 5-foot-9, 170-pound Jamison, featured as a punt returner during the Packers' offseason minicamps, was named All-Southwestern Athletic Conference return specialist in both 1998 and 1999. He averaged 36.3 yards on 11 kickoff returns in 1998, a figure which led NCAA Division 1-AA, and 23.0 yards for 22 KOR and 15.3 yards on 39 punt returns in 1999.

Jamison, 21, had been an all-state selection in his final year at Wolfson High School in Jacksonville, Fla., where he returned two punts and one kickoff for touchdowns in the homecoming game his senior year, recording 298 return yards overall.

He becomes the eighth of the Packers' 13 draft picks to sign. Previously signed: Nose tackle Steve Warren of Nebraska, a third-round choice; linebacker Na'il Diggs of Ohio State, the first of three fourth-round selections; and the team's five seventh-round picks - offensive tackle Mark Tauscher of Wisconsin, defensive tackle Ron Moore of Northwestern Oklahoma State, wide receiver Charles Lee of Central Florida, linebacker Eugene McCaslin of the University of Florida, and running back Rondell Mealey of LSU.
