The Green Bay Packers have signed defensive end Michael Landry to the team's practice squad, GM/Head Coach Mike Sherman announced Tuesday.

A 6-3, 301-pound Southern University alumnus, Landry originally was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2002. Waived Aug. 26, 2002, he returned to Kansas City as a member of the Chiefs' practice squad for the final week of the 2002 regular season.

Later re-signed by the Chiefs as a reserve/future, he was allocated to the Scottish Claymores of the NFL Europe League for the 2003 season and earned all-NFLEL honors after finishing fourth in the league with 6.5 quarterback sacks. He also posted 31 tackles (24 solo) and was credited with 3 passes defensed while playing in all of the team's 10 games, with 9 starts.

Landry subsequently re-joined the Chiefs in their '03 training camp, remaining on the roster through the preseason until waived Aug. 31 in the team's final roster reduction for the regular season. He was re-signed to the practice squad Sept. 4 and released Sept. 16.

As a collegian, Landry was a pass-rushing defensive end who also worked as an outside linebacker at Southern University, playing in 25 games (with 23 starts) and totaling 103 tackles (50 solo) and 9.0 sacks for 84 yards in losses. He also registered 28 tackles for loss, 23 quarterback pressures and 4 passes defensed.

Running back Dahrran Diedrick has been released to make room on the practice squad for Landry, who has been assigned jersey number 75.
