THOMPSON, McCARTHY TO ADDRESS FANS

The Green Bay Packers' fifth annual Draft Party, set for April 26 in the Lambeau Field Atrium, will include appearances by Packers players Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila, Jarrett Bush, James Jones, and Koren Robinson.

The players will participate in question-and-answer sessions on stage and sign autographs for attendees via a ticketed session. Attendees will receive a ticket for one randomly assigned autograph session when entering the party.

Fans in attendance also will hear from Packers GM Ted Thompson and Head Coach Mike McCarthy. Thompson will address the crowd immediately after the team's selection to discuss the newest member of the Green and Gold.

Brighter screens, improved audio: To enhance attendees' enjoyment of the day, this year's party will feature the use of brighter projection screens and additional audio components, allowing for better viewing and hearing of the network TV and Newsradio 620 WTM..

Packers' Davis Announces Retirement, Will Join Football Staff

Rob Davis, a 12-year NFL veteran, has announced his retirement from the Green Bay Packers and now will join the team's front office. He was named director of player development Wednesday by Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations.

Davis served as the Packers' long snapper for 11 seasons and played in 167 consecutive games in a Green Bay uniform, the third longest streak in team history. Only Brett Favre (255) and Forrest Gregg (187) played in more consecutive games than Davis.

As the director of player development, Davis will be vital in maintaining locker room cohesiveness and overall player health. He will assist players in acclimating to their roles, both on and off the field and in the Green Bay community.

"This transition for me is an example of player development at work, as we try to assist players for life after football," Davis said. "I'm very grateful for the opportunity to have played 11 years..

Packers Sign Free Agent Brandon Chillar

The Green Bay Packers Monday signed unrestricted free agent linebacker Brandon Chillar. Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson announced the signing. Today, the Packers also announced the signings of long snapper Thomas Gafford and tackle Joe Toledo.

Chillar, a 6-foot-3, 242-pound linebacker, spent his first four NFL seasons with the St. Louis Rams, who selected him in the fourth round of the 2004 draft. In 63 games, including 40 career starts, Chillar tallied 254 tackles (173 solo) and 4.5 sacks.

A three-year starter at UCLA, he earned All-Pacific Conference 10 honors as a senior in 2003. His last name is pronounced "chill-ER."

Gafford (6-foot-2, 252 pounds) spent the 2006 training camp with Green Bay. He was a reserve/future signing by the Seattle Seahawks in January 2007, but was waived in June and spent last season out of football. The Houston alum ..

Packers Shareholders' Meeting Set For July 24

The annual Packers shareholders' meeting will be held Thursday, July 24, inside Lambeau Field, starting at 10 a.m. The meeting will take place rain or shine.

Shareholders should note only one ticket for the meeting will be issued per shareholder account, even if two or more people jointly own the share. In addition, only one guest ticket is allowed to be requested per shareholder account, even if two or more people jointly own the share.

This will mark the fifth time the meeting will be held in the historic stadium (1998-99, 2006-07).

More detailed information about the meeting will be included in proxies sent to shareholders in early June.

Packers, Red Cross Team With Area Schools For 'Little Heroes'

SCHOOLS CAN RECEIVE APPEARANCE FROM PACKERS PLAYERS

March is Red Cross Month and the Green Bay Packers and the American Red Cross Lakeland Chapter are teaming up through the "Little Heroes" program to offer area schools the chance to earn an appearance from a Packers player.

Students at elementary schools in the Lakeland Chapter area, which includes Brown, Door, Kewaunee, Marinette, Menominee, Oconto, and Shawano counties in Wisconsin, along with Menominee County in Michigan, have been invited to participate by collecting coins during the month. The top three money raising schools will receive a visit from a Packers player.

Participating schools are currently collecting coins and will report their totals by Tuesday, April 1, 2008. The numbers then will be tallied and the top three fund raising schools will be announced. All proceeds raised will support the American Red Cross Lakeland Chapter.

The curriculum is designed exclusively for coaches of youth football teams (middle school and Pop Warner levels) and offers the opportunity for sharpening skills and learning new approaches to teaching football.

The Green Bay Packers and Mills Fleet Farm Friday announced plans for the fifth annual Packers Draft Party, set for April 26 at the Lambeau Field Atrium.

The event will run from 2 to 9 p.m. (doors will open at 1 p.m.) and will feature draft coverage on two large television projection screens, and the Packers' flagship radio station, Newsradio 620 WTMJ, will be on hand to provide coverage and analysis throughout the day. This year's NFL Draft features a new start time, 2 p.m. CST, and each club will receive 10 minutes to make a selection in the first round (instead of 15 minutes).

The Green Bay Packers Friday named Joe Whitt, Jr., defensive quality control and Mondray Gee as strength & conditioning assistant. Head Coach Mike McCarthy made the announcement.

Whitt, Jr., joins the Packers from Atlanta, where he spent this past season as assistant defensive backs coach for the Falcons. He spent the previous four seasons at Louisville, where he served as cornerbacks coach and recruiting coordinator. He began his coaching career as wide receivers coach at The Citadel in 2002.

Gee (pronounced as the letter 'G') comes to Green Bay after seven seasons (2001-07) with the Detroit Lions. He served as a graduate assistant on the strength & conditioning staff at his alma mater, Michigan State, in 2000.

Packers Fan Fest Set for Friday And Saturday

The fourth annual Packers Fan Fest begins Friday afternoon at the Lambeau Field Atrium. The two-day event, March 7-8, will see more than 3,500 fans fill the Atrium to celebrate Packers football.

The schedule for Fan Fest on March 7 will begin with doors opening at 3 p.m., with a kickoff event beginning at 4 p.m. The day ends at 9 p.m. On March 8, doors will open at 8 a.m. with activities beginning at 8:30 a.m. The day will end at 9 p.m. In addition to player autographs, the event features include main stage presentations and a tour through the team's locker room. Attendees also will enjoy exciting raffle prizes and hard-to-find G-Force and gameday items at the "garage sale."

Packers Trade Williams To Cleveland

The Green Bay Packers Saturday traded DT Corey Williams to the Cleveland Browns for a second-round selection in the 2008 NFL Draft. The transaction was announced by Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations.

A sixth-round draft pick by Green Bay in 2004 out of Arkansas State, Williams spent the past four seasons with the Packers, serving as a versatile player in the team's defensive line rotation.

Williams played in 56 games with Green Bay, making 20 starts. He totaled 156 tackles and 17 sacks. In 2007, Williams played in all 16 games, including nine starts, while establishing career bests for tackles (51) and sacks (7-tie).

The trade of Williams to Cleveland provides Green Bay with the 56th overall pick in the April 26-27 NFL Draft, giving the Packers three choices within the first 60 selections (also Nos. 30 and 60).
