• Reflective of his unassuming personality, has quietly established himself as one of the NFL's superior punters in only three seasons.
  • Has improved both his gross average and number of punts 'inside the 20' each year he has been in Green Bay.
  • Remains unflappable no matter the circumstance, whether it be an all-out rush, a bad snap or awful weather conditions.
  • Technically sound and always mentally prepared for the execution of his responsibilities, routinely sacrifices personal stats for the sake of better hang time and coverage.
  • Entering just his fourth league season, appears poised to enjoy a long and productive professional career.
  • Posted an individual season in 1996 which was on par with his club's Super Bowl success, kicking for the second-highest gross average by a Green Bay punter in over two decades and tying the club record for single-season net average.
  • Holds the team's one-season mark for punts 'inside the 20' (28), a record he has broken each of the last three years.
  • Holds a career ratio of 3-to-1 on punts 'inside the 20' (78) vs. touchbacks (26).
  • His 41.9-yard gross average over the past three years is the best three-season average by a qualifying Green Bay punter since Max McGee averaged 42.2 yards (157-6,632) from 1958-60.
  • "Craig's consistency, I think, is probably the biggest thing that he brings for us," says Nolan Cromwell, the Packers' special teams coach. "And his confidence, and the confidence we have in him. We believe he's going to give us the type of punt that we need in every situation. He's proven he can do that; we expect it out of him. Plus, he has the ability to work quickly when he is getting a rush. And he punts the ball with hang time as well as anybody."
  • Demonstrated over the past two seasons an ability to also be an effective kickoff specialist.
  • A top-quality holder, has served in this role for the Packers all three of his years on the 53-man roster.
  • Even has filled in with aplomb on an emergency basis as the team's field goal kicker.
  • "I contribute our kickoff coverage last year (fourth in the NFL) being really a direct reflection of Craig's ability to kick the ball deep and giving our players time to run around blocks and get back into the lanes and to make the tackle downfield," Cromwell continues. "He's done a great job, and if he's asked to do that again this season he'll continue to do a great job. Craig is just such a talented athlete that he can do it all. Two years ago, he ended up kicking field goals for us and he was very good at that. His versatility is just amazing, and I think everybody on the team realizes that. He's a team player; if I tell him I want a 35-yard punt, he'll try to give me a 35-yard punt with a lot of hang time to try to take a returner out of the game, not give him a chance to return the ball. He's not selfish in that respect. The other thing, his holding ability, he really is an excellent holder and it makes for really a comfortable situation with the kicker to know that you've got a guy that's going to get the laces usually around in the right position and be able to handle those duties."
  • Watched his career make a decided upward turn midway through the 1994 season, his initial campaign as the Packers' punter after a year on the club's practice squad.
  • Was well-versed as both a kicker and punter upon entering the pro ranks in 1993, having handled both responsibilities as a collegian at Notre Dame.
