- Was on the honor roll all 4 years at Thomas Jefferson, as well as being named to the Mayor’s Mile High Academic Scholar squad
- Also earned Renaissance Academic Scholar honors 2 years
- Was a personal shopper at the Annual Holiday Helpers where teammates Derrick Mason and Samari Rolle provided $150 gift certificates and helped underprivileged children in the Baltimore area shop for holiday gifts for themselves and their families in Dec. 2006- 08
- Also participated in the Ravens’ annual Spring Football Festival, signing autographs and speaking at fan forums in April 2007-09
- Joined former teammate Bart Scott for Scott’s holiday party for 200 Baltimore youth at Port Discovery Museum in Baltimore; the evening featured a holiday meal, gift distribution and bike giveaway
- Founded the Derrick Martin Foundation in 2007, which improves lives of underprivileged kids, including those in single parent homes
- Martin joined teammates in Nov. 2007 and ’08 for the ACT Auction Party benefiting the RACTF and players foundations
- Hosts the annual Derrick Martin Sportsfest in Denver, which includes free football and cheerleading clinics, a celebrity basketball game, celebrity bowling and a silent auction
