At least the Green Bay Packers know what needs to be fixed before their season opener.
Tennessee's Samari Rolle tipped a pass to linebacker Keith Bulluck, who returned the interception 70 yards for a touchdown, and then Rolle picked off a Brett Favre pass to help lead the Titans to a 27-7 win over the Packers on Friday night.
The Packers (1-3) finished with four turnovers despite holding the ball for nearly 34 minutes.
"I don't put a whole lot of stock in the outcome of the game," Packers coach Mike Sherman said. "I do in four turnovers in this game, and the fact that there are some plays to be made we didn't make."
Tennessee (3-1) had given up 240 yards passing to Vinny Testaverde in losing at Dallas five days ago. But with starting cornerbacks Rolle and Andre Dyson together for the first time this preseason, the Titans held Favre to 110 yards.
"There is a big difference having him in the game," Titans coach Jeff Fisher said of Rolle.
When these teams wrapped up the preseason in 2003, Favre didn't dress and Steve McNair took only three snaps.
Each played the first half Friday night, but the extra work didn't help. Favre was without running back Ahman Green, who sat out with a bruised left kneecap. McNair didn't have two of his top three receivers because of injuries.
Favre had his offensive line together for the first time this preseason with center Mike Flanagan back. Favre completed his first three passes, but Rolle nearly intercepted a pass intended for Javon Walker before tipping it to Bulluck, who scored. The final block was provided by Rolle.
The cornerback ended Green Bay's third possession on the first play, grabbing a Favre pass and returning it 30 yards to the Packers' 15.
Rolle said facing Favre was a good test for a defense that gave up 240 yards to Vinny Testaverde five days ago.
"Next to our guy, he's the best quarterback out there," Rolle said.
Titans defensive tackle Kevin Carter was happy having the cornerbacks on the field.
"We wanted to come into this game as close to full strength as we could and have a solid performance from our defense, and I think we accomplished that," he said.
With Green Bay blitzing, McNair had trouble getting together with his replacement receivers. He completed 8 of 17 passes for 84 yards.
His lone TD came after Rolle's interception, on a toss to Pro Bowler Derrick Mason, who faked out safety Mark Roman and ran in for a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.
Favre overthrew a couple receivers, but did get Green Bay on the board with a 53-yard TD pass to Robert Ferguson in the second quarter. Favre was 10-of-20 for 113 yards.
"I felt like we were in rhythm the whole day, but turning over the ball and penalties will kill you," Favre said.
Both teams played their starters at least through the first half -- and they needed the practice.
Tennessee center Justin Hartwig snapped the ball way over McNair's head in the shotgun on third-and-7. Favre was flagged for false start after setting up in the shotgun on third-and-5.
Green Bay punter B.J. Hunter may have had the worst moment when his punt traveled only 5 yards and was caught by Titans right tackle Fred Miller a few yards deep on the sideline.
Chris Brown had only eight carries, and the running back taking Eddie George's place in the Titans' backfield had his own struggles, being stopped for no gain on four attempts. His only carry in the third quarter was a 73-yarder in which he showed the moves and speed the Titans have lacked in recent years. Brown finished with 98 yards and a 12.3-yard average.
Tim Couch, trying to earn the job as the Packers' No. 3 quarterback, was only 3-of-6 for 14 yards on one series. Sherman said Couch's arm lacked a little juice.
