As excited as I was the first time

Here comes the postseason!

Vic, will it take a 100-yard rushing game from Lacy to win?

I'm thinking of this as being more of a passing game. I think the matchups invite it, for both teams.

Will from Arlington, VA

Vic, I'm heading over to the pep rally tonight in Clarendon. Any chance I'll be able to shake your hand?

That's the whole idea; celebrate the bond that joins us.

Shawn from Kissimmee, FL

How does this website rank among other NFL team websites? This site created a family.

We do very well, and it's because of our family. In the industry, it's known as readership habit. I think it goes much deeper than that.

Jared from Springfield, MO

Yesterday, I spent some time scouting your previous work on jaguars.com and it was good stuff, as expected. There you were, in 2005, stressing the importance of run the ball, stop the run. Never change. I also came across an article written by Fred Taylor the year you left to come to Green Bay. It's clear you had an impact on his football career, and I think that's awesome. He clearly respected you a great deal.

So, your question is why did I leave there to come to Green Bay? Because this was a rare opportunity I would've regretted declining. I love the time I've spent everywhere. Everybody wants me to declare a favorite team, just as they want Charles Woodson to decide which team he'll represent when he goes into the Hall of Fame. The answer is I declare for all three, because all three have made me what I am. Fans can't understand that feeling until they pack up their life, move it somewhere else and welcome that place into their heart.

Rob from Delavan, WI

Who are the hot teams as we begin the playoffs?

The Seahawks, Chiefs and Redskins immediately come to mind.

Nathan from Baltimore, MD

If you could pick one player to get healthy for Sunday, who would it be?

It's very difficult to be successful on offense without a true left tackle. I sincerely hope David Bakhtiari is ready to play.

Eric from Charlotte, NC

Call me crazy but I foresee a Packers/Seahawks rematch in the NFC championship game.

I don't need to look any farther ahead than tomorrow to feel the excitement you're supposed to feel for the postseason. After all these years, I'm as excited for tomorrow as I was for the first playoff game I attended, which was the Immaculate Reception.

Manish from Brisbane, Australia

Vic, what position do you think the Packers should target on the first round of the draft this year? I see a lot of people wanting to draft a WR on the first round but I think drafting a middle linebacker would be better. What do you think?

The need at wide receiver would appear to be distinct, and based on a first-look analysis of the wide receiver crop, it's likely one would fit where the Packers are picking. It's a very deep crop, however, how often has Ted Thompson drafted a wide receiver in the first round? It's a position at which the Packers have enjoyed success in the later rounds, and I've always been an advocate of getting the big guys early. Inside linebacker would make sense, but other than for the guy at Alabama, I don't know much about what's available at inside linebacker. The Senior Bowl will begin revealing draft prospects and where they might fit.

Bob from Verona, WI

Despite a 10-win season, many fans (including myself) feel the Packers didn't play to their potential. I know my expectations have been lowered, and it's actually quite calming. This postseason, I don't have those high expectations, and I feel much more at ease with whatever happens on Sunday.

Then why would you ever burden yourself with high expectations. Just watch the game!

Pat from Madison, WI

Genetic engineers at Johns Hopkins University announce they have developed a so-called super gorilla. Though the animal cannot speak, it has a sign language lexicon of over 12,000 words, an IQ of almost 85, and most notably a vague sense of self-awareness. Oddly, the creature (who weighs 700 pounds) becomes fascinated with football. The gorilla aspires to play the game at its highest level and quickly develops the rudimentary skills of a defensive end. People speculate he'd be borderline unblockable and would average six sacks a game (though he may be susceptible to counters and misdirection plays). Also, the gorilla has made it clear he would never intentionally injure an opponent. You are the commissioner. Would you allow him to sign with Green Bay?

That's not the question. The question is can he catch the screen pass?

Bob from Colby, KS

I totally agree with you on the NFL Hall of Fame. It should be as tough to get in as the baseball HOF. So, if you ran the HOF, how would you make it happen?

It's impossible to do it because the league and the Hall of Fame have turned the Hall of Fame weekend into such a celebrated event that you couldn't justify such an event for just one or two inductees. Ultimately, this is going to create a problem. Supply will devalue the product.

Ryan from Fredericton, Canada

On Friday you listed the players you feel you'd put into the Hall of Fame in 2016. Your choice of Edgerrin James surprised me. Vic, do you mind sharing what you thought made James special?

Over 12,000 yards rushing, over 3,000 yards receiving, two NFL rushing titles, all-decade team, 15 NFL records. He played in an offense that featured the pass and I thought he was under-used in the postseason. I asked for Cliff Christl's opinion. He said he would vote for James.

Judy from Owatonna, MN

Who knew my love life followed Ketchman's law? Thanks for nothing, Vic.

Would you like to know Ketchman's theory of maximum pain?

Darren from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

I know this column is for interaction with fans, but if you knew the players were reading your work, what would you hope they came away with from reading it?

I'd like them to feel the respect and sensitivity I have for what they do. I went to see the movie "Concussion" on Friday. I'm very glad the NFL has decided to pursue an aggressive course of player safety.
