GREEN BAY – It's one of the greatest and most longstanding traditions in all of sports, and Clay Matthews made sure a few of his biggest and most deserving fans got to experience it.
The Packers' star linebacker helped donate 10 brand new bikes to local kids on Tuesday, which they rode alongside Matthews down the DreamDrive toward the final training camp practice of the summer.
"The DreamDrive is a great tradition," Matthews said. "I'm glad that we were able to help some kids participate in it who might not have had the opportunity otherwise."
Matthews posed for photos, signed autographs and chatted with his young fans before practice began, and even signed an absence excuse for one youngster who was going to be a little late for his first day of school.
