The deadline has been extended for students interested in entering the Green Bay Packers and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Fit Kids ticket giveaway contest. Entries are now due to the Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield office via the mail by Thursday, Oct. 31.
Fit Kids is a free, year-long fourth grade curriculum for schools in Wisconsin designed to promote healthy living by focusing on the physical, nutritional and social aspects of good health. Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield is the presenting sponsor of the program.
As a part of its support for the Fit Kids program, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield is giving away 70 tickets to the Nov. 10 game vs. the Philadelphia Eagles at Lambeau Field to 35 fourth graders through an essay and poster contest. To enter the contest, fourth grade students from schools in Wisconsin must write an essay or make a poster that describes what they do to stay healthy.
Each winning student will be awarded two tickets – one for them and one for their parent or guardian who will accompany them to the game. The winners will be seated in the new Festival Foods MVP Deck and their tickets will include food and beverage throughout the game.
Complete contest rules and the official entry form can be found on Packers.com/FitKids. All entries must be received at Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield's office (Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Attn: Fit Kids, N17 W24340 Riverwood Dr., Waukesha) by Oct. 31.
Through the Fit Kids program and ticket contest, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield and the Packers are working to raise awareness of the importance of healthy lifestyles and to bring the positive health messages to Wisconsin classrooms.
Each month, the Fit Kids curriculum explores a new health-focused topic, including: Get Together, Get Out, Get Fueled, Get Cooking, Get Moving, Get Bendy, Get Happy and Get Fit. Green Bay Packers players kick off each new section with a video encompassing the theme for that month and appear on various posters and program materials.
Fit Kids was developed in 2004 by several educators in the Green Bay Area Public School District, with support from the Green Bay Packers, CBS 5 WFRV-TV and the Karma Group. Several other districts adopted the program for the 2005-06 school year and in 2006-07 the program rolled out statewide.
Currently in its 10th year, Fit Kids has been adopted by more than 335 public school districts in the state, with thousands of students receiving the benefit of the successful curriculum. Within these districts, the program has been used by fourth-grade classroom teachers, physical education teachers and school nurses, and integrated into their lesson plans.
