Bob DeMeyer of Superior High School has been named Green Bay Packers High School Coach of the Week, the organization announced Wednesday.

DeMeyer, in his eighth year as the head coach of Superior, led the Spartans to a 38-27 victory over River Falls on Friday, Sept. 13. Superior improved to 4-0 for the first time since the Spartans' state championship season in 1990.

"Friday's game was a four-quarter battle," said DeMeyer. "We have a pretty special group of boys this year and the hard work and preparation they put in throughout the offseason is paying off."

A Superior, Wis., native, DeMeyer is a 1987 graduate of Superior High School, where he played quarterback and defensive back under coach Larry Hoff. After high school, he attended the University of Wisconsin–Superior where he played quarterback for head coaches Gil Krueger, Bill Connor and Ted Thomas. After college, DeMeyer played professional football in Italy and Sweden, and spent time in the United Football League, Arena Football League and Indoor Football League. When he was not playing, DeMeyer was coaching the freshman and sophomore teams at Superior High School. In 1998, he accepted an assistant coaching position at Northwestern High School before being promoted to head coach in 2005. In 2006, he moved back to Superior to take over the varsity head coaching position at his alma mater. DeMeyer is also the school's physical education teacher.

DeMeyer and his staff oversee a program of 86 players. His assistant coaching staff includes Aaron Anderson, Andel Brown, George Eisenmann, Aaron Fezzey, Chris Fuhrman, Sean Graskey, Steve Hendry, Chad Johnson, Rick Kennelly, Shaun Mattson, Nick Olson, Rich Reder, Jesse Samarziya, Cole Schorr, Robb Scott, Trevor Sorensen, Larry Thomas, Geoff Torzenski and Mike Weinandt.

DeMeyer and his wife, Traci, have three daughters, Abbie, Lanie and Sydnie.
