Dope Sheet: Packers hit the road to face the Titans

The first time since 2000 that the Packers have played two of their first three games vs. AFC teams

The Green Bay Packers will travel to Tennessee to take on the Titans.

  • It is the earliest visit to Nashville to play the Titans and the second-earliest visit against the franchise (Week 1 at Houston Oilers in 1983).
  • The two teams have played 14 times with an overall point differential of 15 points.
  • Green Bay and Tennessee have split the last four matchups, with the Packers scoring 40 and 55 points in their two victories.
  • This will be the Packers' fourth game at Tennessee and the first since 2016.
  • The last time Green Bay won a road game against the franchise was in 1992 in Houston against the Oilers.
  • Overall, the two franchises have faced off 14 times during the regular season, with the Titans holding an 8-6 (.571) advantage in the series.
  • This is the first time since 2000 that the Packers have played two of their first three games vs. AFC teams.

  • With the victory in Week 2, the Packers became the first team in NFL history to reach 800 regular-season wins.
  • The temperature at kickoff in Week 2 was 85 degrees, tied for the second-warmest home game in franchise history (since 1959) behind only an 89-degree game vs. Cincinnati on Sept. 24, 2017.
  • Dating back to 2008, the six times the Packers have lost the season opener, they won in Week 2 (2012, 2013, 2014, 2021, 2022, 2024).
  • Green Bay returns home next week to take on the Minnesota Vikings in its first divisional matchup of the season. It is the first time the Packers do not play an NFC North foe until Week 4 or later since 2017 (Week 4 vs. Chicago).

After originally being paired together in 1999, McCarren and Larrivee enter their 26th season of broadcasts together. They surpassed Jim Irwin and Max McGee for the most regular-season and postseason games broadcast for the Packers with 313 at the 2018 season opener against Chicago.

MATT LaFLEUR…In his sixth season as the Packers' 15th head coach.

  • Is in his 16th season in the NFL, having previously served as an offensive coordinator for two seasons (Los Angeles Rams, 2017; Tennessee Titans, 2018), a quarterbacks coach for six seasons (Washington Redskins, 2010-13; Atlanta Falcons, 2015-16), and an offensive assistant for two seasons (Houston Texans, 2008-09).
  • In his first five seasons leading the Packers, authored one of the greatest starts to a head-coaching career in NFL history. Per the Elias Sports Bureau, his 56 wins are tied for the second most in league history by a head coach in his first five seasons in the NFL, trailing only George Seifert (62 in 1989-93).
  • Became the first coach in NFL history to post 13-plus wins in three straight seasons and his 39 wins from 2019-21 passed Seifert (38) for the most wins by an NFL head coach in his first three seasons in the league (Elias). His 39 wins are also tied for the second most by a coach over any three-season span in league history, trailing only Andy Reid's 40 wins with the Kansas City Chiefs from 2020-22 and Mike Ditka's 40 wins with the Chicago Bears from 1985-87 (Elias).

  • Enters his 15th season as an NFL coach, having previously served as an offensive coordinator for five seasons (Cincinnati Bengals, 2019-23), a QBs coach for four seasons (Denver Broncos, 2015; Detroit Lions, 2016-17; Oakland Raiders, 2018) and in various other offensive roles with the Broncos for five seasons (2010-14).
  • During his five seasons as OC in Cincinnati, helped guide the Bengals to two AFC North titles, two AFC title games and an appearance in Super Bowl LVI against the Los Angeles Rams.
