The Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame Inc. on Friday launched a new program to honor Packers Hall of Famers in schools and enhance engagement with students: the Legacy Series.

The program places bronze busts of Packers Hall of Famers at schools with ties to those individuals, beginning with the man who started it all, Curly Lambeau. The program kicked off by unveiling Curly Lambeau's bust in a place of honor at Green Bay East High School's City Stadium, aimed at sharing Lambeau's legacy with students, visitors and the community.

Lambeau's bust was unveiled near the entrance to City Stadium, the former home of the Packers from 1925-1956, prior to the Red Devils' game against Sheboygan North. Green Bay East High School students, staff and community members took part in the event.

A 1917 graduate of Green Bay East High School, Lambeau started in football for four years in high school before playing on Knute Rockne's first team in 1918 at the University of Notre Dame. Upon returning to Green Bay, Lambeau and George Whitney Calhoun founded the team that became known as the Green Bay Packers in 1919. 

The Legacy Series will advance the Packers Hall of Fame Inc.'s mission to serve as an educational resource to students and the community by sharing the stories of Packers Hall of Famers, with more Hall of Famers set in the works to be honored at additional schools in Wisconsin.

The Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame Inc. is a nonprofit corporation independent of the Green Bay Packers that guides the Hall as a historic national sports venue and educational resource to the Green Bay community and the state of Wisconsin. The Hall raises funds through its annual Induction Banquet, Golf Classic and other events to preserve the history of the Green Bay Packers and expand its archives. Historic memorabilia donated by individuals to the Hall may qualify as tax-deductible gifts.

Originally established in 1967 as a temporary display in the concourse of the Brown County Veterans Memorial Arena, the Packers Hall of Fame moved into its own facility in 1976 near Lambeau Field. In 2003, it was relocated to the lower level of the Lambeau Field Atrium. After renovations beginning in 2013, it reopened in August of 2015, and is now located on the main floor of the Atrium across from 1919 Kitchen & Tap.
