Update: This exhibit is no longer on display at the Neville Public Museum. The new Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame will open in summer of 2015 at Lambeau Field.
The Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame Inc. today unveiled its new exhibit at the Neville Public Museum in Green Bay.
Named "Touchdown!," the exhibit features several never-before-seen artifacts and photographs, as well as rare video footage from the 1930s to the present. Many of the Hall's most popular artifacts, such as two of the Packers' Super Bowl trophies and early telegrams the team received, are also featured at the Neville.
"The Neville Public Museum is honored to curate and host this temporary exhibit that highlights the history of the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame Inc. and its role in preserving the legacy of the Green Bay Packers football team," said Neville Museum Curator Kevin Cullen. "It was a creative challenge to incorporate as many artifacts as we could from the original Packers Hall of Fame, while providing a new venue and new content for the visitor to enjoy during the renovation of Lambeau Field."
The Packers Hall of Fame Inc. spearheaded the project, working with the Neville Public Museum and Green Bay Packers to provide unique pieces to the "Touchdown!" collection.
"Our partnership with the Neville Public Museum has been a very positive experience. Beth Lemke, Kevin Cullen and their entire staff have been fantastic to work with. It gives us an opportunity to maintain a connection with our fans during the construction period at Lambeau Field," said Tom Murphy, Hall of Fame Inc. Archivist. "Additionally, Gwen Borga and Holly Borga from our Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame Inc. staff should be recognized for helping this joint venture to become a reality."
The exhibit will serve as a place for fans to learn about and view Packers history while the all-new Packers Hall of Fame, to be located in the Lambeau Field Atrium, is being constructed with a tentative completion set for spring of 2015.
"The Packers Hall of Fame is one of the premier historical archives in sports, and we are thankful to the Neville Museum, the Packers Hall of Fame Inc. and Brown County for making this exhibit possible for our fans," said Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy.
The exhibit opens to the public on Saturday, April 5, at 10 a.m. Admission to the museum is $5 for adults, $3 for children ages six to 15, and free for children under five years old. Admission to the museum is free on the first Wednesday of every month from 5 to 8 p.m. with Brown County proof of residency.
