Coming off a 154-yard rushing performance against the San Francisco 49ers, Green Bay Packers running back Ahman Green will be named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week when the NFL formally announces its weekly awards Wednesday.
The sixth-year veteran, who averaged 5.7 yards a carry in the Packers' 20-10 victory over the weekend, also won the award after his Week 4 performance against the Chicago Bears.
Heading into a Thanksgiving Day match-up with the Detroit Lions, Green leads the NFL in rushing yards (1,326) and total yards (1,654). He's second to Kansas City's Priest Holmes (90 points) in scoring amongst non-kickers (84 points).
In terms of Packers standings Green is now the second leading rusher in team history (5,128 yards) behind only Jim Taylor (8,207), and Sunday became just the third Packers player with 1,000 career carries and 5,000 yards (Taylor and John Brockington are the other two).
