Packers tie Cowboys, 40-40 in OT

Shootout ends with teams trading field goals in the extra period

ARLINGTON, Texas – A wild shootout at AT&T Stadium ended in a tie as both teams traded overtime field goals, with the Packers' coming on the final play of the extra period.

K Brandon McManus hit it from 34 yards out as the overtime clock ran out.

The tie puts the Packers' record at 2-1-1 at their bye week. The Cowboys are 1-2-1.

A disastrous end of the first half allowed the Cowboys to come back from an early 13-0 deficit, which started by blocking the PAT on the Packers' second TD and returning it all the way for two points.

After that, the Cowboys scored two touchdowns in the final minute of the first half, sandwiched around a strip-sack of Jordan Love deep in Green Bay territory, to take a 16-13 halftime lead.

From there, the teams traded scores the entire second half, with the lead repeatedly changing hands. The Cowboys scored a go-ahead TD on a George Pickens catch and run with 43 seconds left, and the Packers came back to tie the game at 37 on a 53-yard field goal by McManus as time expired in the fourth quarter.

Dallas began the overtime by driving into goal-to-go, thanks to a long completion to WR Jalen Tolbert. But the Packers' defense held inside the 5 and forced a field goal. K Brandon Aubrey hit from 22 yards out.

The Packers responded by driving all the way into the red zone, but a pair of screen passes to the outside went nowhere. A shot for the end zone was incomplete with just 1 second on the clock, and Green Bay was able to salvage the tie.

For the Packers, QB Jordan Love was 31-of-43 for 337 yards with three TDs and a 118.1 passer rating. RB Josh Jacobs ran 22 times for 83 yards and two TDs, with RB Emanuel Wilson adding eight carries for 44 yards.

Jacobs also had four receptions for 71 yards, while WR Romeo Doubs had six catches for 58 yards and all three of Love's TDs. WR Matthew Golden had five catches for 58 yards and TE Tucker Kraft had five catches for 56 yards.

For the Cowboys, QB Dak Prescott was 31-of-40 for 319 yards with three TDs and a 124.9 passer rating. RB Javonte Williams had 20 carries for 85 yards and a TD.

Pickens had eight catches for 134 yards and two scores, while Tolbert had four catches for 61 yards and TE Jake Ferguson had seven catches for 40 yards and a score.

Packers lead Cowboys 7-0 after first quarter

Dallas won the coin toss and elected to defer. Darian Kinnard started at right tackle for the Packers in place of an injured Zach Tom (oblique) while Jordan Morgan started for Aaron Banks (groin) at left guard.

The Packers faced third-and-9 initially but Jordan Love connected with Matthew Golden on a 46-yard pass to the Dallas 34-yard line.

Tucker Kraft gained six yards on a quick pass before extending a third-and-5 underneath route for a 16-yard pickup to the Cowboys' 1-yard line.

After a false start penalty, Green Bay answered back with a 4-yard Josh Jacobs run and a 50/50 ball to Romeo Doubs in the end zone for the 2-yard touchdown to put the Packers up 7-0 with 10 minutes, 2 seconds left in the first quarter.

Dallas came out looking to run behind Javonte Williams but gained only six yards on three carries and was forced to punt after going three-and-out. Green Bay took over at its 15.

The Packers gained 16 yards on first down when Romeo Doubs gained separation from Jack Sanborn on a crosser. Josh Jacobs gained seven yards on the next run, but the drive stalled after Love and Doubs couldn't connect and a holding penalty on a Jacobs run.

Green Bay punted after a 16-yard pass to Savion Williams on third-and-20. The Cowboys took over at their 11 after a 43-yard Daniel Whelan punt.

Dallas picked up the initial first down with a 7-yard pass to Jake Ferguson off play-action and then a 4-yard check down to Williams. Keisean Nixon broke up a second-and-6 pass for KaVontae Turpin. Quay Walker and Nate Hobbs combined to tackle Ferguson shy of the first down and the Cowboys punted again.

Green Bay took over from its 32 after a 51-yard Bryan Anger punt and 9-yard Golden return. Emanuel Wilson gained 25 yards on a screen pass before picking up another five yards to the Dallas 38. Green Bay outgained Dallas on the ground 149-26 in the first quarter.

Cowboys lead Packers 16-13 at halftime

Trevon Diggs thought he may have an interception of Love on third-and-5 from the Dallas 38, but Love caught the Cowboys with 12 men on the field for the first down.

A 6-yard pass to Luke Musgrave and a 5-yard Jacobs draw gave Green Bay a first down at the Dallas 20. The Packers were called for holding but Love scrambled before tossing a pass to Jacobs, who gained 28 yards to the Cowboys 1.

Love hit Doubs on a slant for a 1-yard touchdown on the next play. Cowboys safety Juanyeh Thomas blocked the extra point and Josh Ball returned it to the end zone for two points, making it 13-2 Green Bay with 10:37 left in the first half.

On second-and-7, Hobbs broke up a downfield pass to George Pickens down the sideline. Cowboys ran a draw to fullback Hunter Luepke after an illegal formation penalty and Dallas punted for a third time.

Golden lost seven yards on a pass, but Donovan Ezeiruaku was called for unnecessary roughness to give Green Bay a first down at midfield. The Packers were forced to punt from their 45 after Love's deep ball for Dontayvion Wicks fell incomplete.

Kingsley Enagbare downed Whelan's 40-yard punt at the Dallas 5.

George Pickens gained 14 yards on a quick slant to get the Cowboys' drive going. Defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt left the game with a knee injury later in the series.

After an 11-yard pass to Pickens, the veteran receiver came right back with a 28-yard reception down the left sideline despite Evan Williams laying a hit near the pylon. Prescott eventually scored on a 2-yard quarterback draw to cut the Packers' lead to 13-9 with 41 seconds left in the half.

Tucker Kraft caught a 12-yard pass on third-and-10 to the Dallas 32. With no timeouts remaining, Love was stripped of the ball on first-and-15 and Dallas recovered at the Green Bay 15. On the next play, the Cowboys took the lead, 16-13, with a touchdown pass to Pickens.

Packers lead Cowboys 20-16 after three quarters

The second half began with the Packers announcing Wyatt was out with a knee injury. The Cowboys gained one first down but were forced to punt after Prescott's third-and-14 deep ball for Jalen Tolbert fell incomplete.

Green Bay took over on its 24-yard line. A 14-yard pass to Jacobs off play-action started the drive. On third-and-2, Sam Williams was flagged for a facemask to give Green Bay a first down at the Cowboys' 39.

Rasheed Walker sealed off Ezeiruaku and Jacobs broke a 19-yard run on the next play. Kraft caught a 14-yard pass on a rollout to set up first-and-goal at the Dallas 1.

A false start penalty pushed Green Bay back, but the Packers retook the lead, 20-16, on a 1-yard Jacobs touchdown with 7:08 left in the third quarter. Jacobs and Kraft combined for 53 yards on the nine-play, 76-yard drive.

Dallas again answered with Prescott throwing a 15-yard pass to Turpin near the sideline to convert on third-and-6 from its own 24. Ferguson's 8-yard touchdown catch popped the Cowboys back out front, 23-20, with 34 seconds left in the third quarter.

Jacobs gained three yards on a pitch to end the third quarter.

Packers and Cowboys head to overtime, tied at 37

Wilson gained four yards on a third-and-3 draw to the Cowboys' 21. Love audibled on second-and-7 and handed the ball to Jacobs, who found a seam for an 18-yard touchdown that made it 27-23 Green Bay with 11:39 remaining.

The Packers ran for 58 yards on the eight-play, 70-yard drive.

Isaiah McDuffie recorded a tackle of Turpin at the 23 on the return, but Dallas picked up the initial first down with a 5-yard pass to Turpin on third-and-3.

Green Bay stopped the Cowboys on their next third-down attempt, with a pressured Prescott failing to connect with Luepke. But Dallas went for it from its own 43 and Pickens caught a 12-yard pass across the middle on fourth-and-3.

Karl Brooks was flagged for a facemask on the same third-and-5 play Prescott hit Ferguson for three yards, moving the ball to the Green Bay 22.

Williams carried the ball four straight times and eventually scored on a 1-yard direct snap to put Dallas back up 30-27 with 4:46 remaining.

The Packers announced Hobbs was being evaluated for a concussion.

Green Bay converted its eighth third down on 10 tries with an 18-yard pass to Doubs on third-and-8 from the Packers' 22. Wilson pushed the ball into Cowboys territory with a 12-yard pickup on a checkdown.

Love and Wilson failed to connect in the flat, but Cowboys linebacker Marist Liufau was flagged for unnecessary roughness for hitting Wilson after the incompletion. Jacobs then bullied his way up the middle for 14 yards to the Cowboys' 15 as the game reached the two-minute warning.

On third-and-10, Doubs caught his third touchdown of the game on a 15-yard pass from Love to put the Packers up 34-30 with 1:49 left.

Turpin returned the kickoff 46 yards to the Dallas 47. The Cowboys converted on third-and-3 with a 19-yard pass to Tolbert. Dallas scored on the next play with a 28-yard touchdown pass to Pickens, retaking the lead 37-34 with 43 seconds left.

Starting from the Green Bay 26, Jacobs picked up 25 yards on a first-down catch. There were 17 seconds left when Malik Heath caught a 9-yard pass. Jacobs converted the first down and the Packers took a timeout with 12 seconds left.

Green Bay used its second timeout after a 4-yard Jacobs run with nine seconds left. Love threw the ball out of bounds with four seconds left.

Brandon McManus made a 53-yard field goal as time expired to tie the game at 37 and force overtime.

Packers play to a 40-40 tie in Dallas, enter bye 2-1-1

Overtime began with the Cowboys announcing left tackle Tyler Guyton was being evaluated for a concussion.

Williams gained 11 yards on first down, but Green Bay had Dallas in another third-and-5 before Prescott found an open Pickens down the sideline for 22 yards to the Green Bay 42.

Dallas gained 34 yards on a deep ball for Tolbert to the Cowboys' 5. Green Bay's defense held, though, and the Cowboys settled for a Brandon Aubrey 22-yard field goal to put Dallas ahead 40-37 with 4:40 left in overtime.

Green Bay had to start at its own 20 after the touchback first landed inside the landing zone. Golden caught a 14-yard pass on fourth-and-6 to continue the drive. Wilson gained nine yards to the Green Bay 47 on the next play and then another 13 yards on the play after that as overtime reached the two-minute warning.

Wicks caught a slant and extended it for 15 yards to the Cowboys' 25. Doubs caught the next slant for another six yards. Wilson gained seven yards to the Dallas 12 before Golden was dropped for a 3-yard loss and Green Bay used its last timeout.

Love couldn't hit Golden in the back of the end zone on third-and-14 with 1 second remaining and McManus made a 34-yard field goal to tie the game at 40.
