So, is Wes declaring that he is not on the side of the fence that says a hot dog is a sandwich?
Don't put sandwiches – I mean words, in my mouth.

"Defense wins championships" is a cliché, but as clichés go, it's one of the best. Do we finally have the makings of an elite defense?
I don't think the Packers are chasing the notion of being an "elite" defense any longer. To me, elite isn't a statistic. It's what you feel in your gut in crunch time. That certainty your defense is going to win this game and the Packers mostly had that during Jeff Hafley's two years at the helm. All that was missing last year were the takeaways and Micah Parsons during the final month of the year. Once Parsons is back, Green Bay will a tough out for any offense on the schedule.

One overlooked benefit of having the same three WRs playing together a lot is building a cohesion that showcases Matt LaFleur's ability to draw up route trees, especially where two receivers are running to get the third one open. Coach LaFleur doesn't get the love he deserves as an offensive creator. Should he just take his shirt off more?
Whether it's a backup quarterback or WR1, there are few better in the NFL than LaFleur at finding what his players do best and fitting his offenses to those strengths. While the Packers have benefitted from having a deep receiving corps the past two years, there comes a time when teams must identify the key ingredients needed to master the recipe. I feel like that's where Green Bay is now with Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, Tucker Kraft and Matthew Golden.

Fiercest position battles coming up in training camp – Starting CBs? O-Line? Others?
Cornerback is a big one. Carrington Valentine is the early favorite start to across from Keisean Nixon, but Benjamin St-Juste and Brandon Cisse will have something to say about that. Edge rusher, too. It's not only about who starts opposite Lukas Van Ness at the start of the year but also who is first in the rotation once Parsons is back. Most importantly, it's which players claim roster spots behind the projected starters. I don't think any position has a solidified depth chart yet.

There has been some concern about the running back room for obvious reasons. But in the end, isn't finding a consistent front five on the offensive line the biggest question mark for the Packers' offense?
Yes, and keeping them there.
Edward from Sioux Falls, SD
It's been very comforting to read online that fellow South Dakotan Tucker Kraft only wants to play for the Packers his entire football career. He must know that whatever they offer him will be at least double whatever he would think to ask for. He wants now to help win another Super Bowl for himself and the Packers shareholders and fans. Go Pack Go!
Some players are just destined to play in Green Bay. There's something in the universe that just clicks between this town and a player. It happened with Jerry Kramer. It happened with LeRoy Butler. I think we're seeing it with Tucker Kraft.
Asher from Las Vegas, NV
There is all this talk about Kraft, Watson, and Reed, but what about Skyy Moore? Wouldn't having a veteran receiver impact the game? Or is he not planning on starting WR?
Moore took some first-team reps in the first OTA practice open to the media but unfortunately suffered an injury that kept him out the past two weeks. Moore seemed in good spirits on the sideline, though. He'll get a chance to reset when the team reconvenes next month.

Hi guys, signing a TE may be a sign Luke Musgrave's injury may be more severe than expected, do you have more information on it?
The Packers claimed Luke Lachey last month when Musgrave was still healthy, but he reportedly didn't pass his physical at the time. Lachey projects as more of a blocking tight end anyway. To me, his signing is a response to losing John FitzPatrick at the end of last year to the Achilles tear than the current state of the Packers' tight end position.

Hi! I hope it is cooler there than Myrtle Beach. A lot of talk about kicking problems through the years; I believe most NFL positions are judged by their foot technique. I have also heard that by the end of a season the kicker is one of the highest scoring players on a team, but only two teams have a coach for the position. So why don't teams do the logical thing and hire a coach for the kickers?
The fact there are only two right now tells the story, right? Having a kicking coach is great but isn't that what the special teams coordinator and his assistant coaches are here for? Asset management. The Packers have three special teams coaches with position coaches like Ben Sirmans also lending a hand during special team periods in practice.

I think Jager Burton will emerge as a starter this year, the only question is when. He is a super athletic lineman who started for four years after being a five-star HS recruit. Do you agree and if so when do you think he starts?
I've said it once. I'll say it again. I see Corey Linsley when I look at him. He has that type of form. While Burton is competing for that next man up role on the interior, all it takes is one injury here or there and he's the starter. That's the only opportunity Linsley ever needed.

I saw Matt and the team acknowledged Bryan Nehring on his retirement, very cool! Bryan is a friend of mine and actually was an usher at my wedding, which was 40 years ago this month. Any Bryan story you can share?
I have a few, but I'd rather keep them to myself. The common thread between them, though, is character. That's the first word that comes to mind when I think of Bryan Nehring. Fans see the 45-plus years of service to the Packers, but I think of a man who has led a faithful and extraordinary life. I'll forever have the images seared in my mind of him pulling blocking sleds and uprights around Nitschke Field during practice. He did so willingly, without cheers or adulation, because that was his responsibility. That was his job. Bryan embodies this organization's core values and the ideals of the man I'm still trying to become. Our equipment staff is the best department in this building. I'm forever grateful to Bryan, Red, T-Bone, Tim, and Chris for how kind and welcoming they were to me when I walked through these doors in 2016. I never forgot it and never will. I always feel at home in their wing of the building. Wishing Bryan well in retirement and looking forward to shaking his hand before he punches the clock for the final time.

Good morning, all! Which Packers attended the Junior Power Pack kids camp this year? I missed it this year but always appreciate the effort on their part! GPG!
It's always a great event. I believe this year's participants were Luke Musgrave, Karl Brooks, MarShawn Lloyd, Pierre Strong Jr., Johnathan Baldwin, Jaylin Simpson, Donovan Jennings, Josh Whyle and Shemar Bartholomew.

Hi Insiders, what four international cities would be on your Mt. Rushmore for expansion?
London, Toronto, Mexico City, and Paris. I would love to say Sao Paulo or Rio, but I don't know how feasible it would be to have a team routinely making that 12-hour trip during a season.

Fantasy football (pause) If you're still reading, maybe I'm too much of a homer but I never had much of an interest because I pretty much view all of football through the lens of what does and does not benefit the Packers, and that mostly has to do with wins and losses. I'm also more of a team guy than a player guy, which is why I rarely buy a jersey. Sometimes I think that too much focus on individual trees and one loses sight of the beauty of the forest. Am I too limited in scope?
I don't want to be the middle-aged man yelling at the cloud, but the rise of fantasy sports tells an unsettling story of the fractured society I fear we're becoming. It's less about "we" and more about "me" these days. That's what was so refreshing about watching the clips of Knicks fans filling the streets and subways of New York City. For me, the sight of thousands of fans rejoicing together is what sports should be about – not some snarky text you send to your bro because you eked out a close win in fantasy because the opposing running back slid before the goal line as time expired.

According to Wikipedia, a sandwich is a popular, portable dish consisting of fillings like meat, cheese, or vegetables placed between two or more slices of bread or a split roll. Wouldn't that make a hotdog a sandwich?
You lost me at "According to Wikipedia," Pat.

If you prescribe to the theory that championship teams are built from the line of scrimmage out, with the amount of unsettledness in those position groups, what is the major contributing factor for optimism in stabilizing for the season?
Most of the players closest to the line of scrimmage are back and another year wiser.
Arthur from Eau Claire, WI
Mark Sanchez and Leon Lett, does anyone remember Jim Marshall?
The instant tossing of the football always gets me once Marshall gets to the end zone. Poor guy had no chance.

What is something about the NFL offseason that us fans tend to misunderstand or oversimplify?
The offseason program is longer than training camp. There's plenty of work to do, but some hay is already in the barn.

Two weeks in, and Tom Grossi/The Grossi Posse are up to over $500K raised for St. Jude! Halfway there!
And we're nearly single-digit days away from Tom wrapping "30 in 30, Part Deux" here at Lambeau Field.

Not a huge soccer fan but took advantage of living near Dallas and marched with the Dutch fans pregame on Sunday. If you aren't aware of their traditions and pregame march, check out The Orange Bus online. What a great time with passionate fans. Could you imagine something like this rolling through GB every week? Better yet in opponents' cities?
Looks like we need to step our pep rally game up.

Weston, you might have a slow 40 time, but you have the smoothest kick-step (to drop into pass protection), perhaps of any undersized, short-armed left tackle I've ever seen. David Bakhtiari must be quite proud of his student. Any chance of seeing you post a video performing the task again this year?
I don't think my ever-eroding ego can handle it.
