It's Wednesday morning, and tomorrow is gameday. Weird, since we just played the 49ers, but that's life in the NFL, I guess. Beat Miami! GPG!
I'm having a difficult time processing there's a football game tonight. Hopefully, the tryptophan wears off by kickoff.

How does playing at Lambeau Field, especially in winter conditions, give the Packers a unique advantage compared to other teams?
They live in it. They practice in it. Tonight, they need to win in it. Own the elements, guarantee yourself a winning season and take another step towards the playoffs.

With the article on the homegrown offensive line in mind, I would l like to see the "December extension" mentioned previously on this site for Josh Myers. When he was out earlier this year, Elgton Jenkins was moved to center, and, while I hesitate to say anything negative about the man, there were issues. I get "best five on the field," but this suggests we have limited options developed behind Myers should he leave after the season. I say pay the man. Happy Thanksgiving to II.
I don't cut the checks around here, but I appreciate your comment because Myers doesn't get the credit he deserves. He's hard-working, accountable and battled a lot of adversity, both personally and professionally, to stay on the field this season. Myers also has played some good ball over the past two years. He's an easy guy to pull for.

The Dolphins like the short passing game to get the ball to their speedy playmakers. Maybe the best defense is a good offense, eat the clock and limit their opportunities. Can the Packers pull this off against the Dolphin D?
I'm with you. Green Bay chewed clock early against San Francisco and it forced the 49ers to alter their gameplan. But the key for me in this one is tackling. So much of what Miami wants to do is based on its ability to get ball carriers in space and allowing them to make plays. You gotta keep the ball in front of you and get the Dolphins to the ground.

How has the defense been preparing for Miami? What areas still need building?
Well, preparation is in the recovery this week. The Packers are trying to get as healthy as possible to contest with one of the most talent-rich offenses they'll see all season. As much as Thursday games challenge players physically, it's also a mental grind. Players must lock into their assignments and limit the mental errors. The team that makes fewer mistakes is usually the one that triumphs in these short turnarounds.

Too lazy to research myself, but when was the last time a team played back-to-back Thursday games? Also, serendipitous that two teams will experience the phenomenon together next Thursday.
Surprisingly, it's not that rare. Dallas had a stretch of four straight years where it played the Thursday after Thanksgiving. It's a tough turn, but the Packers and Lions will be weathering that adversity together.
Beau from Lancaster, PA
The next four games have non-traditional start times. Two Thursdays, a Sunday night and a Monday night. What is the biggest challenge when the normal routine is thrown off like it will be for the next month?
Awkward schedule and awkward gamedays. The Packers have some buffers built into this year's slate, though. They have to go Thursday to Thursday, but also have a mini-bye before the Sunday night game in Seattle and a (tentative) extra rest day before the Monday nighter against New Orleans.

Happy Thanksgiving all! I loved Aaron Jones so perhaps I am biased, but it seems like one of the major differences between Jones and Josh Jacobs is the amount of time they are willing to give each the ball. Do you think there is less worry about Jacobs getting the ball 25 times per game vs. Jones due to body size? Or is it all game flow this year?
I'd say more the latter. The Packers had no problem featuring Jones, but Jacobs is built differently than most NFL backs. The guy eats carries. I'll be curious if Green Bay tries to pace him a little more tonight – possibly incorporating Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks a bit more depending on the game situation. But Jacobs will be ready for whatever touches come his way tonight.

What is the Packers' situation with linebackers for this Thanksgiving night game?
Isaiah McDuffie is questionable but was upgraded to an estimated limited participant on Wednesday's injury report. If McDuffie can't go, I expect Eric Wilson gets the call next to Quay Walker in nickel and Ty'Ron Hopper entering in the base defense.

Can you imagine being a Giant fan right now? Saquon Barkley leading the league in rushing and Xavier McKinney leading in interceptions. How did they let those two get away? And then they release their QB that they overpaid which is part of the reason. Goodness.
I would imagine that is a very bitter pill to swallow for Giants fans, especially in Barkley's case. You let your franchise running back walk to a division rival (without a proven replacement) and now he's running over you and the rest of the NFL. At least, you don't have to play McKinney.

Organizational cohesion – absolutely (especially with the GM).
It was one of Ted Thompson's greatest and truest maxims. It doesn't matter how talented your football team is if you don't have cohesion and direction.

Is Luke Musgrave going to return soon or at all this year? I think a two-tight-end set would be a big benefit to the offense. Also, I hope Christian Watson's drop last week doesn't break his confidence.
I'm not worried about Watson's confidence. He has strong constitution. We can't talk to players on injured reserve, but Musgrave has been in the locker room. It sounds like he's getting closer from what Matt LaFleur said.
Brandon from Cumming, GA
Thinking about you guys in this stretch run of primetime games and cross-country travel. Listening to LaFleur say how long of a night he had after the Sunday win to get the game plan complete by noon Monday is…wow. What's the longest work stretch you've done? Having worked some long hours, there is something oddly satisfying looking back on it, even if I wouldn't choose to do it again.
I once worked like 22 straight hours during my first year at the Press-Gazette. I was 19 at the time and had to cover Day 1 of the WIAA state track and field meet. I left Green Bay at 5 a.m. local to get to La Crosse for the 3,200 relay, which had a top seed from our coverage area. I worked the entire day, finished my stories and drove back that night/early morning because my girlfriend had high school graduation. I nearly fell asleep near Scheuring Road in De Pere, but the rumble strips saved me. Anyway, I made it back home at 3 a.m.

Happy Thanksgiving! Will you have time to check out some of the tailgating prior to kickoff? I would imagine that it might be even more festive than other days. If not, could you consider "What are your favorite tailgating memories or traditions?" for an Outsider Inbox question?
I definitely can add that to the 2025 submissions list for OI. I don't partake in the pregame tailgating. If I badly need a brat, there's some in the press box.
Kathryn from Greenville, WI
Which player had the most family come into town for the Thanksgiving game?
I don't know how many family members Elgton Jenkins will have up here, but it sounds like he puts out quite the spread from what Rasheed Walker said. Also, Walker eating Popeye's for Thanksgiving last year because he didn't have family in town was the most wholesome thing to come out of locker room this week.
John from Beloit, OH
Have the Packers ever made the Super Bowl as a wild-card team?
Yes.
Chris from Hanska, MN
Great article on the offensive line. They are the true unsung heroes. I loved "The Office" reference at the beginning. I can see Prison Mike giving it a two thumbs up!
The worst thing about prison was the Dementors, Chris. They were flying all over the place and they were scary, and then they came down and suck the soul out of your body, and it hurt.
Lori from Brookfield, WI
Wes, I am so thankful for you and Mike, Packers nation, the great Inbox family and our wonderful team. A win tonight will only make the gratitude list longer. GPG! Happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you, Lori. Wishing the same to you and yours!
Jon from Tallahassee, FL
Just sitting here trying to work right before Thanksgiving break – listening to your "Unscripted." Feeling very thankful for excellent Packers commentary. Rest of the league seems to be all idiot screaming. You guys are smart, balanced, clear, and not at all "homers." You call out where the Packers might have weaknesses, etc. Anyway, the league – and the world, really – doesn't need any more emotional nonsense that hinders thinking. So, THANK YOU and Happy Thanksgiving!
Every day, I try to add some seasoning to enhance the flavor of your fandom. We may bicker at times, but I appreciate each and every one of you coming along for the ride.
Margeaux from Tallahassee, FL
Happy Thanksgiving Wes! Now quit answering questions and enjoy your turkey! GPG!
Bet. I hope you all can enjoy some food, family and hopefully another Packers win.
