Two days in the book and no major events creating Inbox havoc sans Spoff. Good luck the rest of the way!
Thank you. I'm sure I'll need it.

Any clue yet which Lambeau or Titletown refrigerator will hold Roger Goodell's lunch when he's in town in April?
I could tell you but then Spoff would know.

The response to Lori from Brookfield had me wonder how many times have you met Tom Grossi?
More than I can count. Over the past few years, Tom has gone from a good acquaintance to a close friend. What he's doing right now is incredible – streaming nonstop on YouTube while trying to raise $1 million for Children of Fallen Patriots. Tom is one of the most selfless and creative people I know. He's also the coolest kind of crazy. Be sure to check out what he’s doing.
Garrett from Rockford, MI
Hey Wes, what did you think of the Mike Daniels' interview on Tom Grossi's stream? I would love to see you get interviewed on there too!
I joined Tom Sunday night but wasn't nearly as entertaining as Mike D. That interview quickly went off the rails but also was so much fun. The guy is a true one-of-one. It's been great seeing him around town again for alumni appearances.

It's said that the wide receivers have the advantage over corners because receivers know where they're going to go, and corners have to react to the receivers. Is the opposite true for offensive and defensive line? Do D-linemen have the advantage over the O-line because the O-line has to react to the D-line? Except for maybe run plays.
Defensive ends probably hold an advantage because they know their objective on a given play and the techniques they plan to utilize. It's the offensive lineman's job to respond but not overreact. There was a good soundbite over the past year about how an offensive lineman must be near-perfect to do his job effectively whereas a D-lineman only needs one or two big plays each week to be considered one of the best in the league. Of course, that's an oversimplification, but it illustrates how difficult life on the O-line can be in the NFL.

Making a splash in free agency (Maxx Crosby! Myles Garrett! Davante Adams!). Imitating all aspects of Philly's beatdown of the Chiefs, does the fantasy ever stop? I submit the most important thing for the '25 Packers is to cut down on self-inflicted mistakes. With a young team gaining experience, that seems like a reasonable goal.
It's definitely attainable. That Packers must shore up the self-inflicted penalties to take the next step, but I have faith they can do it. Young players on first contracts will be another year older and hopefully another year wiser.
Ray from Phoenix, AZ
The center position is so important – the offense starts with his snap, and he sets the blocking assignments. Josh Myers' future is uncertain, and Jacob Monk did not get much play. I am not in favor of moving an existing starter to play center. Shouldn't center be a position of need?
That depends solely on Myers and whether he's back next year. If Myers isn't re-signed, I think center is a major position of need for Green Bay, especially given my preference to keep Zach Tom stationed at right tackle. Monk played a lot of center at Duke but was a healthy scratch down the stretch. Like Corey Linsley's departure in 2021, Myers will leave a big hole to fill if he exits in free agency.

Wes, does Malik Willis have more value to the Packers as a security blanket, or were the three wins an example of catching lightning in a bottle, and his trade value would yield a far greater return over time?
Unless a team makes an offer Brian Gutekunst absolutely cannot refuse, I want Willis on this roster in 2025. He's a trusted insurance policy for Jordan Love and could still command a premium compensatory pick a year from now.

I absolutely believe after the Packers' success in free agency last year, they'll be active again. Cap space and who's resigned will greatly affect their involvement. With that said, do the Packers assume any dead cap money if Jaire Alexander is traded rather than released outright?
It's the same because that "dead cap" number is based on bonuses that have already been paid. By moving a player – like the Packers did last year with Preston Smith – all that dead money is accelerated to the current cap.

Hi guys, I have loved reading the Inbox since the Ask Vic days! Keep up the great work! Quick question about the upcoming draft. How does the city of Green Bay look these days? Any new structures being built? I personally can't wait until draft weekend!
This city is more than ready for this incredible opportunity. As a whole, Green Bay is growing, but the area around Lambeau Field has expanded exponentially over my nine years with the Packers. Titletown is a major part of that, but numerous hotels and restaurants also have popped up around the stadium. In terms of infrastructure, the Resch Expo on the east side of Lambeau Field has replaced the old Brown County Arena and is a big piece in this draft puzzle.

Looking back on the season, which new coach or assistant (not counting Jeff Hafley), either side of the ball, had the biggest impact on the team this year?
There are several good candidates, but Anthony Campanile came as advertised in his lone season in Green Bay. The trajectory speaks for itself. Campanile's work with Edgerrin Cooper and the inside linebackers went a long way in him becoming Jacksonville's new defensive coordinator.
Harry from Rochester, NY
Now that Sterling Sharpe is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, do you see the Packers retiring his jersey and putting his name in the ring of honor in Lambeau Field?
I don't think another number will be retired until No. 12 hangs in the Atrium, but Sharpe's name will be added to the Lambeau Field façade like Bobby Dillon's did.
Johnny from Fort Myers, FL
I contend that the Lombardi Packers' three-peat (1965-67), and five NFL Championships in only seven seasons are the greatest feat in sports, period. There were far fewer teams then, with much better quality of play. I don't think that we'll ever see a football three-peat again. Do you agree? A number of teams have had a chance, but they all failed badly (Cowboys, Steelers, Broncos, etc.).
It may be a while before another team threatens a three-peat. It was tough then and it's still tough now.

Hod, there's a lot of criticism on the defensive line regarding pass rush. Improvement is needed but these guys showed incredible discipline and selflessness playing the run and against running QBs. GB has had big number sack guys in the past who didn't play with discipline and got exposed. No thanks. I'm not against new talent but hope for development jumps in Year 2 under Jeff Hafley. It's also noteworthy that none of the top potential FA EDGE players had double-digit sacks in '24. Huge offseason for "90," right?
The best edge defenders balance pass rush with accountability in the run game. That's why I routinely praise Rashan Gary for the job he did this past year. It's what Preston Smith did so well in his prime. This is a big offseason for Lukas Van Ness, but he's yet to celebrate his 24th birthday. It took two years for Gary before the breakout in 2021. Hopefully, LVN's time is coming.

Dear Wes, I heard some reporters are not going to the combine because many coaches are not attending, lack of access and other restrictions. Are you planning on attending and what is your opinion that combine is becoming obsolete.
I can't speak for the entire NFL, but our staff no longer spends a full week in Indianapolis. With just Gutekunst speaking on the Packers beat, Spoff can handle it.

In response to Cody's submission about the USA Canada hockey game…Hockey is the only sport I can think of that allows fighting as part of the game – excluding sports where fighting is the point. When players drop their gloves, everyone knows what is going to happen. I know I will be lambasted by hockey fans for my take on this, but I am just asking: Can you think of any sport where a fight is knowingly going to happen and the players, coaches and referees don't step in and stop it?
Hmm…roller derby?

"I wager he ends up with an All-Pro nod or two by the time it's all said and done." I thought that was not allowed at Bushwood.
I knew this was coming. Fortunately, I never slice.

Customs definitely still stamps your passport when entering/exiting a country. I just checked my 4-year-old passport, and it has 17 stamps, picking up 18 and 19 later this week with a quick trip to Costa Rica. A wise man once said...travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.
Amen. Great use of "vegetating," too. Safe travels, my friend. I wish I had the stamina for that much jet-setting.
Tom from La Crosse, WI
Wes, Chase from "Paw Patrol?" Nice! He's the coolest one. Good job!
I may be on the level of Chase, but what I failed to mention is I'm well below Marshall, Rocky, Skye and Everest.
Mark from Weston, WI
I've been reading Mike's writing since his days covering local sports for the Wausau Daily-Herald, and so glad he now writes for the Packers. I read the Inbox and articles every day, and this period between seasons only gives me the Inbox and/or click-bait articles for my Packers "fix" from national pundits who clearly don't have a clue about the Packers. It's just some "filler" I don't take seriously. Thank God for you both providing the best insight on the Pack. So, Maxx Crosby or Myles Garrett? LOL.
Ha, well played. Thanks for your readership, Mark. We're doing our best to keep the conversation going in a responsible way.
Clint from New Berlin, WI
Wes, your response on Monday of "My son. I could take or leave the rest." really hit home for me. I relate to that so hard, the latter part due to some not-so-good things over the past few years. I hope your feelings aren't rooted in bad experiences and all is well.
Kids are the best. To paraphrase the popular musical-turned-movie "Wicked," Who can say if I've been changed for the better? But because of fatherhood, I was changed for good.
Dustin from Kansas City, MO
Wes, I'm going to be bringing the boy up to Kenosha in April for a wrestling tournament. Any fun attractions or great restaurants or anything we should check out while we're up there?
All the best to your son. I don't typically give recommendations, but you gotta stop at "The Spot" in Kenosha. It's a great drive-in burger joint. I make it a point to stop on every drive near the Illinois border.

Regarding Rhonda from Italy, I just returned from Italy (the one in Europe) and London. Passports stamped in both places. Guess it depends on which country and how the immigration officer is feeling that day. But never say never…
You might be onto something. Some commenters mentioned you don't get a stamp for Canada.
Chris from Marshall, WI
Hi Wes. Regarding your answer to Lori from Brookfield, WI yesterday, maybe you should start a "Packers Patrol" segment. Then your kiddo and rest of II could enjoy ya more. Could be fun.
Wes is on the case. Have a great Wednesday.
