Enhanced security screening at Lambeau Field gates will begin Oct. 2 and feature hand-held metal-detecting wands, the Green Bay Packers announced on Tuesday. The enhanced measures are being implemented upon the recommendation of the NFL.

The procedure, similar to a TSA hand-held wand inspection at an airport, will utilize the same lines that have previously existed at entry gates, but result in a slightly longer entry process. Pat-downs may still be used for the process as well. Because of the enhanced screening, fans are asked to allow for extra time when entering the stadium.

"The enhanced security procedures at Lambeau Field recommended by the NFL will increase the safety of fans at our games," said Doug Collins, Packers director of security/risk management. "We encourage fans to make their way to the stadium gates earlier than in the past, as the new procedure will require some additional time for inspections prior to entering the stadium."
