Lambeau Field ready for Sunday's contest against Cleveland Browns

Packers to wear historic third jerseys, PWA to host 27th annual food drive

Packers fans attending this Sunday's contest against the Cleveland Browns will get a glimpse of the Packers' long history as the team will wear their third jersey, a re-creation of the historic 1929 uniform worn by the franchise's first NFL championship team.

The predominantly navy blue jersey bearing an oversized gold circle on the chest with large navy blue numbers will remind fans, players and all spectators of the unique history and tradition of the Green Bay Packers organization.

First unveiled during the 2010 Packers-49ers game, the uniform includes tan pants, navy blue socks and black shoes. Due to new NFL helmet guidelines, the team this year will utilize its regular gold helmet without the logo and stripes. A similar helmet arrangement was used by the Packers during NFL "throwback" games in 1994 and 2001.

Packers coaching staff and team personnel also will be wearing the third jersey sideline apparel, which dates back to the 1920s, with many of the selections featuring "Acme Packers," the team moniker from the 1921-22 seasons.

Prior to kickoff, the 27th annual Packers Women's Association food drivewill take place, in partnership with UnitedHealthcare. PWA members and UnitedHealthcare volunteers will collect non-perishable food items and cash donations in the stadium parking lot and at the gates. Each PWA member will be wearing the jersey of her husband or significant other, or a PWA jersey. Food items can be placed in bins located throughout the Lambeau Field parking lot.

As an added incentive to donate to the drive, fans have an opportunity to win Packers autographed items. For every $5 donation or five non-perishable food items contributed, a fan will receive a ticket stub. The winning ticket numbers will be drawn and announced on the scoreboard during the game. Fans with the winning ticket stubs can pick up their item at the guest services desk in the Lambeau Field Atrium.

Two alumni are scheduled to make appearances throughout the weekend at various locations. Ken Ellis and Rich McGeorge will be taking part in fan activities at the Packers Pro Shop, Tundra Tailgate Zone and Legends Club leading up to kickoff.

Country music recording artist Katrina Elam will perform the national anthem, and a large American flag will be unfurled on the field.

In addition, the Packers and WPS Health Insurance will be recognizing Wisconsin Air National Guard Senior Airman Jared Hildebrand, Staff Sergeant Jenna Hildebrand and Master Sergeant Reed Hildebrand through Operation Fan Mail on-field prior to the national anthem.

During halftime, the Oneida Nation Dancers will perform and will feature a group of hoop dancers.

Also taking place at the Sunday afternoon home opener is the premier gameday tailgate party in the Tundra Tailgate Zone (TTZ) in the Lambeau Field parking lot. For a full list of gameday information, please visit packers.com/gameday/gameday-information.html.

Fans will receive roster cards provided by Festival Foods as they enter the game.

The Lambeau Field Atrium and guest relations desk will open at 11 a.m. for ticketed guests only. The Lambeau Field parking lot will open at 11:25 a.m. along with the Tundra Tailgate Zone. Gates will open at 1:25 p.m.
