The Green Bay Packers have named Larry McCarren as sports analyst for the Packers Media Group, Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy announced today.
McCarren, a Packers Hall of Famer and award-winning broadcaster who has served as game analyst on 620WTMJ and the Packers Radio Network since 1995, will provide content for all Packers digital properties. He previously contributed to Packers.com with "The McCarren Report" during the 2012 season.
"No one knows the Packers, or football, better than Larry," said Murphy. "He's meant so much to the organization over the years as a great player and an award-winning broadcaster. I know our fans are going to love hearing about the team from him. We're thrilled to have him rejoin the organization and offer our fans his expertise in a variety of ways."
Inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame in 1992, McCarren was an iron man at center for the Packers for 12 seasons (1973-84). He played in 162 consecutive games - helping him earn the nickname "Rock."
McCarren joins the Packers with significant experience covering the team as a broadcast journalist for the past 27 years, first at WFRV-TV (1988-2012) and then at WGBA-TV (2013-15). In addition to continuing his game analyst role on the Packers Radio Network, McCarren also will continue to serve as host for Packers TV Network programs "The Mike McCarthy Show" and "Packers Live."
"I've always felt playing for the Green Bay Packers was an honor and a privilege, and I feel the same way about this position," said McCarren. "It is an organization that does things the right way, on and off the field, and I'm very grateful for the opportunity to join it."
McCarren, a favorite of television viewers in Wisconsin, has four times been voted the Wisconsin Sportscaster of the year (1994, 1996, 2002, 2007) by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.

He played in 162 consecutive games – the fifth-longest streak in team history – helping him earn the nickname "Rock." He was voted to the Pro Bowl in 1982 and '83. Earlier, the Park Forest, Ill., native had been a co-captain at the University of Illinois as both a junior and a senior.
