Fans To Vote For Winner On NFL.com
Safety LOUIS DELMAS of the Detroit Lions, quarterback JOSH FREEMAN of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, linebacker CLAY MATTHEWS of the Green Bay Packers, wide receiver MIKE WALLACE of the Pittsburgh Steelers and running back BEANIE WELLS of the Arizona Cardinals are the finalists for NFL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK honors for games played on December 17-21, the NFL announced today.
**Fans can vote** for one of these five players on NFL.com/rookies beginning Tuesday at 9 am ET and ending Friday at noon ET to determine the NFL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK. The NFL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK will be announced Friday evening on NFL.com/rookies.
After the regular season, five players will be nominated for NFL Rookie of the Year honors. Fans can vote for the winner on NFL.com/rookies throughout the month of January. The winner will be announced at a press conference at Super Bowl XLIV in South Florida.
A closer look at the finalists:
• Detroit's LOUIS DELMAS had 8 tackles and 1 interception that he returned 100 yards for a touchdown in the Lions' 31-24 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
• Tampa Bay's JOSH FREEMAN completed 16 of 26 passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns with one interception in the Buccaneers' 24-7 win over the Seahawks.
• Green Bay's CLAY MATTHEWS had seven tackles and two sacks in the Packers' 37 – 36 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
• Pittsburgh's MIKE WALLACE scored two touchdowns, one 60-yard touchdown on the first play of the Steelers' first possession and one 19-yard score on the last play of the game as time expired to get a 37-36 win over the Green Bay Packers.
• Arizona's BEANIE WELLS rushed for 110 yards and one touchdown on 17 carries and added 13 yards receiving in the Cardinals' 31-24 win over the Detroit Lions.
