Packers defeat Chiefs, 27-20, in summer finale

GREEN BAY – No. 4 QB Manny Wilkins directed a fourth-quarter touchdown drive to break a tie and give the Packers a 27-20 victory over the Chiefs in the preseason finale Thursday night at Lambeau Field.

The game was filled with turnovers, which set up several of the scores throughout the game. The Packers finished the preseason 2-2 with their Week 1 opener coming up in just seven days.

For the Packers, QB Tim Boyle started and was just 3-of-6 for 18 yards, but he did have a TD pass. DeShone Kizer was 8-of-15 for 77 yards with one TD and one interception.

WR Teo Redding led Green Bay's receivers with four catches for 49 yards, and he drew a couple of pass interference penalties. On the ground, RB Dexter Williams had nine carries for 34 yards and a TD, and RB Tra Carson had six carries for 25 yards.

For the Chiefs, QB Kyle Shurmur was 14-of-20 for 143 yards with a TD and an interception. QB Chase Litton was 11-of-19 for 62 yards and a TD. Rashad Davis had seven catches for 47 yards, while TE Nick Keizer had five grabs for 33 yards and a score. RB Marcus Marshall carried 14 times for 59 yards, and RB Carlos Hyde added eight rushes for 29 yards.

Roster cuts await, as the Packers must be down to the mandated 53-player limit by 3 p.m. CT Saturday.
