The Green Bay Packers announced today that Edward Martin has resigned from the Packers Board of Directors, including the Executive Committee. Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy made the announcement.
"The Packers are an integral part of the community I grew up in, making it an honor and privilege to serve the organization for nearly a decade," said Martin. "Since I joined the Board, my company has expanded to a national presence, increasing the time I am away from Green Bay and the overall demands on my time. When I am in town, I want to be there for our employees, including my son, David, who oversees many of our daily operations now. My youngest child just started high school last month and I also would like to be there for her activities. I've always said that if I couldn't give the Packers the commitment they deserved, it would be time to step away. Though now is that time, I'll still be supporting the team."
Martin was elected to the Board in 2004 and subsequently elected to the Executive Committee in 2006.
"Ed has helped steer our organization through rapid development and growth during his tenure on the Board," Murphy said. "He devoted a lot of time to the Packers and we sincerely thank him for his efforts."
