Packers activate LB Biegel; sign LS Hart and CB Brown

TE Emanuel Byrd signed to practice squad; S Brice and LS Pepper placed on injured reserve

The Green Bay Packers have activated LBVince Biegel from reserve/physically unable to perform, signed LS Derek Hart, signed CBDonatello Brownto the active roster from the practice squad, signed TE Emanuel Byrd to the practice squad and placed S Kentrell Brice and LS Taybor Pepper on injured reserve. The transactions were announced Friday by Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson.

Brown, a 6-foot, 190-pound rookie, was signed by the Packers as an undrafted free agent out of Valdosta State on May 5. After being released on Sept. 2, he was signed to Green Bay's practice squad on Sept. 3, where he has remained all season. Brown* *earned first-team All-Gulf South Conference honors as a senior after registering a career-best two interceptions. He competed in the Tropical Bowl, a FBS Division I college football all-star game that showcases the top seniors to NFL scouts and general managers. Brown will wear No. 44 for the Packers.

Hart, a 6-foot-4, 245-pound rookie, was originally signed by Green Bay on March 31 and released on Aug. 28. He played in 43 career games at James Madison from 2012-15, serving as the primary long snapper over his final three seasons. Hart will wear No. 54 for the Packers.

Byrd, a 6-foot-2, 240-pound rookie out of Marshall, was originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the Kansas City Chiefs on May 9, but was released on Aug. 1. He signed with Green Bay on Aug. 5 before being released on Sept. 2. After playing quarterback and tight end for two years at Georgia Military College, Byrd appeared in 21 games in two seasons as a tight end at Marshall, totaling 456 yards on 45 receptions (10.1 avg.) with four touchdowns for the Thundering Herd. He will wear No. 86 for the Packers.
