The Green Bay Packers and Frontier Communications are teaming up with five area Chambers of Commerce to present the American Flag during the National Anthem to kick off the 10th Packers Family Night presented by Bellin Health on Saturday, Aug. 7.
Representatives from the Chambers of Commerce in Clintonville, Plymouth, Shawano, Sun Prairie and Wausau have volunteered to help display a massive US flag during the National Anthem to start the Packers scrimmage.
"In recognition of the local chambers of Commerce and their role in enhancing the overall quality of life in the communities they serve, Frontier is sponsoring the flag-holding opportunity," said Rhonda Lutzke, Senior Vice President of Frontier Communications. "A strong local business base is an essential part of any community, as local companies provide the jobs and stability that all families need. We're proud to support the efforts of the Chambers, and we appreciate the efforts of the Chamber volunteers as part of the Packers Family Night celebration."
For this event, 80 to 100 volunteers will carry, unfurl and hold the flag, which measures 90 feet by 180 feet. At 16,200 square feet, the flag is transported in three sections that are assembled before each event.
Family Night* *will feature an intra-squad scrimmage between the Packers' offense and defense. Evening activities get underway in the stadium at 5:30 p.m., followed by on-field football drills at 6:30 and the scrimmage at approximately 7:30. The event will benefit the Wendy's Wonderful Kids foster care adoption program, a signature program of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.
"In this part of the country, it doesn't get much better than the Packers and the Stars and Stripes. We're honored to be a part of this special event," Lutzke said.
