The Green Bay Packers and Sargento Foods contributed $93,000 this season for the "Touchdowns for Charity" program to benefit the Hunger Task Force in Milwaukee and Paul's Pantry in Green Bay.
For each touchdown scored by the Packers during the 2015 season, Sargento donated a total of $1,500 to help fight hunger. During the 2015 season, the Packers scored 48 touchdowns. Additionally, Sargento raised money and gathered non-perishable food items at the Nov. 15 "Touchdowns for Charity"* *Food Drive at Lambeau Field.
Since partnering 13 years ago, Sargento Foods – the Official Cheese of the Green Bay Packers and Lambeau Field – has contributed more than $1.1 million to Wisconsin food charities for touchdowns scored in regular and postseason games.
During Packers' home games, announcements were made after every touchdown indicating the support for the program. Packers.com features a rotating touchdown ticker, which provides the up-to-date donation total, as well.
In December, Packers tight end Richard Rodgers assisted Sargento Foods in presenting funds from the program to the Hunger Task Force.
Sargento, a family-owned, Wisconsin-based company, supported its Packers sponsorship throughout Wisconsin grocery retailers during the season with in-store product promotions to generate excitement with Packers fans. Sargento is also present at Lambeau in concessions with cheeseburgers featuring Sargento Deli Style Sliced Mild Cheddar Cheese and breaded natural Cheddar cheese curds.
