The Packers' annual Coats for Kids collection will take place Sunday, Sept. 15, at Lambeau Field prior to the Green Bay Packers-Washington Redskins game. Fans attending the game will have the opportunity to donate new and gently used winter coats for distribution to needy children through area Salvation Army units.
Cash donations will be accepted as well.
The Salvation Army will be collecting coats and cash donations in the parking lot and at each of Lambeau Field's gates beginning at 8 a.m.
The Salvation Army and several area cleaners – Lindeman's Cleaning, Royal Cleaners and Martinizing Dry Cleaning Service – are again leading the seasonal effort to collect coats. Coats can be dropped off at the participating cleaners, Papa Murphy's locations, Ultimart Convenience Stores and Fox Communities Credit Union branches, in addition to being brought to Sunday's game.
Collections at the game will take place until kickoff and the number of coats collected will be announced during the second half of the game.
Last year, the Coats for Kids collection garnered 440 coats and $13,021 in cash donations prior to the Packers-Jaguars game.
