The Green Bay Packers, Bellin Health, Shopko and the Safe Kids Coalition will team up for an event to promote bike safety on Wednesday, July 30, at Lambeau Field.
The event, to be held after the scheduled Packers training camp session, will feature free bike helmet fittings, a free bike helmet giveaway, and a safety course for children to learn and practice bicycle riding skills. Participants also will have the opportunity to enter to win prizes, including Packers Family Night tickets and one of two Huffy bikes autographed by a Green Bay Packers player, provided courtesy of Shopko and Huffy.
The safety event, which is part of the Titletown Wellness initiative, will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Lambeau Field parking lot near the Oneida Nation Gate at the Tundra Tailgate Zone.
Children can take part in the free bike helmet fitting between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Free bike helmets will be available for the first 400 children, or while supplies last. For those who have helmets, representatives will be on hand to check sizing and make adjustments. Safety experts will educate children and parents alike on the importance of wearing bike helmets.
Children may then take part in a bike obstacle course, instructed by the De Pere Police Department, which will teach them safe biking skills.
The bike safety event celebrates the Green Bay Packers time-honored tradition in which children bring their bikes to training camp and allow the football players to ride the bikes between the locker room and the practice field along the newly opened American Family Insurance DreamDrive.
