The Green Bay Packers have claimed WR Chris Harper off waivers from the San Francisco 49ers and released RB Michael Hill. The transactions were announced Friday by Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations.

Harper, a 6-foot-1, 228-pound rookie out of Kansas State, was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the fourth round (No. 123 overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft. He spent time on Seattle's practice squad earlier this season and was signed to San Francisco's 53-man roster on Sept. 3. Harper was inactive for each of the 49ers' six games this season. He will wear No. 10 for the Packers.

Hill appeared in two games for the Packers this season.
