Five finalists for the Packers.com playoff ticket essay contest were named Tuesday. They are Mike Morrill, Appleton, Wis.; Jason Bittner, Madison, Wis.; Lane Kimble, Wauwatosa, Wis.; Bob Prestwood, Holmen, Wis.; and Sister Sean Marie, Manitowoc, Wis.
A web poll is now underway in which visitors to Packers.com will determine the winner. Interested fans can view the finalists' essays and vote for their favorite one online. An announcement naming the winner will be made online at 3 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 10.
More than 5,000 essayists have attempted to write their way onto the field for a playoff game to represent all Packers fans as the 'Honorary G-Force Captain' of the game.
The winning essay writer will receive two tickets to the game and will take the field with the Packers' team captains for the coin toss prior to the game. The winner will be asked to repeat his or her duties for a second home playoff game, if applicable. The Packers are not responsible for travel or any related costs and tickets must be picked up at the Will Call window on the day of the game. One essay entry per person is permitted.
The other online contest, which ended at 5 p.m. today, saw more than 276,000 entries. The winners for this contest also will be announced online at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 9.
It called for fans to enter for a chance to be randomly drawn to receive one of four prize categories. A total of 20 prizes will be given away, five of which include tickets to the game. One grand prize winner will receive two tickets to the game, two pregame sideline passes, recognition on the TundraVision video screens in-stadium and a selection of Packers gear. Four first prize winners also will receive two tickets to the game and a selection of Packers gear. Five second prize winners will receive two passes to the 2008 Packers Fan Fest in March and five third prize winners will receive one autographed Packers item.
The Packers are not responsible for travel or any related costs, and tickets must be picked up at the Will Call window on the day of the game. One entry per person per day is permitted.
