With the deadline looming, the Green Bay Packers have extended qualifying offers to restricted free agent cornerback Bhawoh Jue, linebacker Torrance Marshall and tight end David Martin, Vice President of Player Finance Andrew Brandt confirmed Monday evening.
NFL teams have until Tuesday, March 2, to extend qualifying offers to restricted free agents whose contracts have expired in order to retain a right of first refusal and compensation.
Meanwhile, the Packers have chosen not to extend a qualifying offer to third-year defensive tackle Rod Walker, who becomes an unrestricted free agent.
By offering tenders to Jue, Marshall and Martin, the Packers have the right to match any offers those players receive from other teams until April 16, at which time the players would be retained by the Packers if unsigned.
If the Packers elect not to match an offer made by another team, they can receive draft pick compensation commensurate with the round the player was drafted.
Also Monday, the Packers extended qualifying offers to exclusive rights free agent tackle Kevin Barry, running back Tony Fisher, linebacker Paris Lenon, linebacker Marcus Wilkins and defensive back James Whitley.
The Packers did not offer a tender to exclusive rights free agent Bobby Jackson, allowing him to enter the unrestricted free agent pool.
