SPECIAL PLAYOFF LOGO INTRODUCED
While Packers fans eagerly are anticipating this Sunday's contest with the longtime rival Chicago Bears, they also are making preparations for the divisional playoffs the weekend of Jan. 12-13.
Packers season ticket holders have claimed all available playoff tickets, but fans do have a chance to win coveted tickets to the game on the team's Web site, Packers.com.
Two online contests were announced Thursday that currently are underway and run through Jan. 8.
The first contest calls for fans to enter for a chance to be randomly drawn to receive one of four prize categories. A total of 20 prizes will be given away, five of which include tickets to the game. One grand prize winner will receive two tickets to the game, two pregame sideline passes, recognition on the TundraVision video screens in-stadium and a selection of Packers gear. Four first prize winners also will receive two tickets to the game and a selection of Packers gear. Five second prize winners will receive two passes to the 2008 Packers Fan Fest in March and five third prize winners will receive one autographed Packers item.
The Packers are not responsible for travel or any related costs, and tickets must be picked up at the Will Call window on the day of the game. One entry per person per day is permitted.
The second online chance to win features an essay contest in which a fan can write his or her way onto the field for a playoff game to represent all Packers fans as the 'Honorary G-Force Captain' of the game.
Interested fans should explain why they should be the honorary captain for the game. The essay needs to be completed online by noon, Jan. 7. Five finalists will be chosen by the Packers and those essays will be posted online. A web poll then will determine the winner with the announcement made at 3 p.m., Jan. 10.
The winning essay writer will receive two tickets to the game and will take the field with the Packers' team captains for the coin toss prior to the game. The winner will be asked to repeat his or her duties for a second home playoff game, if applicable. The Packers are not responsible for travel or any related costs and tickets must be picked up at the Will Call window on the day of the game. One essay entry per person is permitted.
The Packers also introduced a special playoff logo for the postseason to create added excitement for fans as they ramp up for the playoffs.
The logo features a football-shaped theme and includes the text, "2007 Playoffs. We want it more!"
A limited number of corporate partners of the Green Bay Packers will be using the logo throughout the playoffs.
