Panel Discussion Set For Feb. 26; Autograph Session Feb. 27; Weekly Featured Players
The Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame in February again will celebrate Black History Month, a program in which the organization joins the annual celebration of the achievements and contributions African-Americans have made in American History.
Now in its third year, the Packers Hall of Fame's Black History Month has new features to offer, in addition to the panel discussion which has been a part of the first two offerings.
An autograph session, featuring Packers Hall of Famers Willie Davis (also a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame) and Dave Robinson, will be held Friday, Feb. 27, from noon to 1:30 p.m. Paid admission is required for the autograph session.
A featured Hall of Famer will be highlighted during segments of the month with an autographed football from each given away via random drawing. Visitors to the Hall can sign up at the display for a chance to win. The featured players will be Willie Davis, Edgar Bennett, LeRoy Butler, Ezra Johnson, and Dave Robinson.
The annual panel discussion will take place Feb. 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the Hall of Fame and feature former players Willie Davis, Dave Robinson and Rob Davis, as well as current player Cullen Jenkins and Tim Terry, Packers assistant director of pro personnel. Topics will include the contributions of African-Americans to the game of football as a whole, as well as to the success of the Packers. Admission to the Packers Hall of Fame will be free after 6 p.m. for the discussion.
"We're looking forward to celebrating Black History Month with our guests at the Hall of Fame," said Krissy Zegers, Packers Hall of Fame and Stadium Tours manager. "It's an honor for the Hall to offer this program and recognize the great contributions African-American players and coaches have made to the Packers through the organization's history."
Visitors to the Hall of Fame will be given a booklet that will serve as their guide while touring the facility. It will provide a history of African-American players in professional football as a whole, as well as provide information on many notable African-American Packers players and coaches, including Bob Mann (1950-54), the first African-American player ever to see action in a Packers' regular-season game.
Green and gold ribbons will be placed throughout the Hall's exhibits to recognize the many African-American players, especially those who have been enshrined as members of the Packers Hall of Fame.
*The Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hours may vary on game days and holidays.
