The Green Bay Packers have signed Head Coach Mike McCarthy to a new multi-year contract, team Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson announced Monday.

McCarthy, who is in his ninth season as head coach, has guided the Packers to six playoff appearances, four division titles, an NFC championship and a Super Bowl title. He has recorded 93 wins overall to rank third in franchise history behind Curly Lambeau (212) and Vince Lombardi (98).

"We are very happy to extend our relationship with Mike," Thompson said. "Over the past nine years, he's provided great stability and consistency to the Packers organization and our community as an excellent coach and leader. He's a good man and we look forward to the future with Mike as our head coach."

McCarthy has guided Green Bay to a 5-3 record this season. The Packers and the New England Patriots are the only two NFL teams to make the playoffs each of the last five seasons (2009-13).

From 2011-13, the Packers captured three consecutive division titles for only the third time since the NFL went to the divisional format in 1967 (1995-97, 2002-04). Under McCarthy's leadership, the Packers have won at least 10 games five times, including a franchise-record 15 victories in 2011. Green Bay was the sixth team in NFL history to reach that mark in the regular season.

A Pittsburgh native, McCarthy spent six seasons as an offensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints (2000-04) and San Francisco 49ers (2005). He served as quarterbacks coach for the Packers in 1999 after six seasons (1993-98) on the staff of the Kansas City Chiefs.
